his comments after the 2 minute mark show Saban lives in his own world where your word means nothing.

I'm not saying SEC coaches should negative recruit by sending this video to recruits, but I'm not not saying it either. That was entertaining.

Tommy would know better than I, but Saban doesn't seem like the kind of guy that wants to provide a cushy life for his progeny.

Probably right about that. When he first got to Bama, his two kids were still teens and he said that they had to get real jobs each summer. Not cushy, high-paying, no-work jobs from his buddies, but real jobs flipping burgers or bagging groceries so that they would learn the value of hard work and what it takes to earn a dollar instead of thinking they could just coast through life living off a trust fund. I totally agree with that approach.

I'm sure you are right, but it's tough for this middle class guy to understand why money would matter to you at all when you are making over $5M per year already. What's the difference in lifestyle that that extra $5M affords? "Man, if I coach Texas I can get that G6 I've always wanted!" I guess that's the thinking.

Completely understand your point, but remember......most HC have an ego that is larger than life itself.......not saying he would leave, but there was a time when nobody ever thought Pete Carroll would leave Southern Cal.....I always thought he'd go back to the NFL, just for the simple reason his ego couldn't let his first go around in the Pros end as badly as it did......every coach has some sort of ego, just depends on how well he can keep it in check!!!!

I couldn't help but roll my eyes a few times during that video. Saban is on track to retire as the greatest CFB coach of all time. When you're sniping at a target who has achieved so much, it just comes off as petty.

Just heard on the radio, that the UT Board of Regents spoke with Saban last year, not this year. The rumor is heating up because it seems it just a matter of time before Brown is gone. They also discussed Saban wanting to surpass The Bear as Bama's all time winning coach. I don't have a clue one way or the other is he will leave, but like what was pointed out earlier, these guys have huge egos and when someone starts stroking that ego with more money than you can shake a fist at and telling you that you can seal your reputation as the greatest coach ever, well......

With all due respect...that's crazy talk. I don't see any SEC teams changing their style of play to mirror Alabama's. If anything, they're moving more towards the spread and tempo football Saban abhors.

Stoops arrives and starts throwing the ball all over the field, and then wins a national title while playing for two others, and suddenly they are all trying the same thing.

Even NEB of all places tried throwing the rock more than ever before.

If you look at THE best teams in the SEC every year, they ARE modeled after Bama.

LSU, Bama, South Carolina, Auburn in 2010...they all relied on strong OL and DL, along with big fast playmakers.

The B12 would almost certainly want to change if Saban left....but since he never will, this talk is kinda fun, but not really going to amount to anything.... Then again, just ask the Dolphins and the Tigers before them.

One never truly knows what is going on with these head coaches.

I don't understand why that variable is rarely inserted in this conversation. He is not going to stick around if they are seriously punished.

Since I don't think Bama will be punished, I don't see much of a chance of Saban leaving there anything for quite a while.

well with that being said in the opening paragraph of your quote....Saban should've halled-*** the 3rd year, because since then there was always something going on up there on campus with his past players and all types of other misgivings, but he's still there !

Don't know how true it is but I have heard there were some investments (big ones) that did not go so well, the money could be an issue.

The people who are leaving early are the students. Primarily the fraternities and sororities. I don't have a bit of a problem with Saban calling them out. The students have a choice to opt in or out of tickets prior to the season. If they opt in then they should be at the game... and stay and support their team.

There are literally thousands of people in the state that can not afford to go to games due to the ticket prices. And there are thousands more waiting to buy season tickets. If the students don't want to attend the games and stay to cheer their team the entire game, then give the tickets up and let the general public buy them.

And the school just announced that they have suspended block reserved seating for the frats that left early. Kudos to the school. In other words, those seats now become available to all students who want to sit there.

It's about entire sections leaving en masse as a GROUP.

UA has a special seating arrangement so student groups, like fraternaties, sororities, ROTC, etc can sit together. The groups are allowed reserved space, pre-season and retain that seating throughout the season. There are conditions the GROUPS agreed to including not leaving the game early.

These groups were in violation of the seating agreement and 20 of the 36 reserved seating blocks have been released to other fans.

SGA rules say that if you consistently show up late or leave early, you lose your right to those seats. Saban was correct to call the students out. If they aren't going to stay for the entire game and support the team, let someone who will have those seats.

I saw this on local news (Birmingham) Friday and it seemed to be all Saban. ESPN before the BYU game put it on Saban. Finebaum was interviewed by ESPN and he claimed Saban was concerned about the impact of the empty seats and fan exodus on recruits. Finebaum mentioned one 5 star player that had been impressed with the Michigan fans at the ND game this year and pointed out Saban's concern.

It wasn't until I read the article I liinked that I became aware of the Student Organization Seating. I've got reservations about Saban in some areas but I thought the media misrepresented the issue based on the coverage I saw.

Saban was talking directly about how much work the players put in in relation to how much work the students put in to attending the game. The PTI guys - who I enjoy watching - used the quote to say Saban was dogging the working class people in Alabama and how they didn't put in the work each week in relation to the football team. They were way off base with that.

Saban isn't an angel by no means. But he isn't the "satan" that most people - including many on this board - paint him to be either.

It's a well scripted, precisely choreographed performance intended to provide gripping drama that has all spectators, in-stadium or in man-cave or in local pubs, glued to their seats.

Granted, there is a certain level of suspension of disbelief involved and things don't always play out as sketched on the storyboard, but That's Entertainment!!!
