I have a hard time watching Notre Dame games with people. Mainly because I pace in front of the tv and I'm probably not very fun to watch a ND game with

haha did you watch the USC game?

But you're also comparing USC to Air Force. Someone posted their front sevens heights and weights in this thread (it might have been you). This will be a game where our offensive line truly dominates and Hendrix can just run the read option and babysit. Hendrix made the "right" reads a decent amount of time against USC, but they were way too athletic to be effective. I'm not counting on that kind of athleticism from Air Force. I think Hendrix can beat Air Force to the edge and move the ball.

Just ordered CBS Sports Network on my Rogers cable box, so I'm all set up here in Canada. :)

i don't think BK called too many read plays, all designated keeps and gives imo.

i do think if ND finds themselves in a comfortable position it would be beneficial to play Andrew.

I haven't seen it mentioned, but I really think it's worth mentioning that Kelly and Co incorporated a two-back set against USC that I think can have a lot of potential. Motion Atkinson/Carlisle into the backfield opposite McDaniel and have him lead block on the sweep/power/iso. I really think it has a lot of potential going forward. During the USC game I was calling for a read option off of it and the fourth or so time they motioned him back there they finally ran it...and Hendrix unwisely kept it haha

Anywho are isn't enough Xs and Os talk and though it's bring up.

didn't we run sweep with Atkinson about every single time we did that?

I like the two back set as well, I know Reggie Brooks really did during post game show too. Maybe going forward we add a couple plays to the formation.

Hendrix should start and stay in. If we get into trouble, then bring TR in as we did with Golson last year.
If the USC game proved anything it is that we need Hendrix. Bringing in an untested freshman who ran a run--first offense in high school does not seem like a good plan for me. In the one game I saw him play, his passing judgement and accuracy were suspect, and he had no stress as his team was killing the other. He could run the ball well, however.
I have never understood college and pro coaches who play their star starters 100% of the time! even with huge leads and give the backups 1% of the reps in practice and then complain about the lack of poise when the backup comes in.
It is not possible now, but Leahy played two separate units, and the second unit often out scored and out defended (single platoon football) the first unit.
This lack of a plan b when you are positive that it will needed over the course of twelve or thirteen (or in the pros, 20+) is inexcusable.
Would you fly on an airplane if the co-pilot had never flown under stressful conditions?

i partially agree. i say start Tommy with the intention of getting a big halftime lead and then bring in Hendrix with the intention of keeping the foot on the gas offensively in the second half to get him the experience he needs.

I say sprinkle in Hendrix early. Maybe on the third possession, have him come in and take a few snaps (not just on 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1), and then hope to be up by 3 scores at half so we can give Tommy the opening possesion in the 3rd quarter and then have it be Hendrix the rest of the way.

We really should be able to just go through the motions these next two weeks, improve to 7-2, and be 100% for our stretch run.

AF and Navy are both pretty terrible, these are the games in which a lot of the backups get some burn thus helping build quality depth
