The crowd was great. USC's offense was facing the student section in the 4th quarter and the entire stadium was roaring.

Interesting in the GameDay thread someone was lamenting how quiet ND was and the lack of excitement as well as the weather and the lack of a style point win would impact recruiting negatively.

Thanks for the commentary.

It wasn't the loudest it's ever been but the atmosphere was electric and the crowd was roaring.

The recruits loved it. I can confirm because I did.

It wasn't sarcasm... But a poster posts just about the same tone about something or someone every week here... Get over it... Boston fans are the worst fans in sports,... Easy... And no fanbase is less deserving... I hope they get swept and spend the summer in misery... Deserved

Enjoy.

Didn't you mean Philly fans?

I brought up the point (about stadium loudness) but I didn't say it would negatively impact our recruiting. I did say that Clemson's loud environment would wow a kid but I'm not sure that would be enough for him just to commit to playing there. I also wasn't sure if our stadium was really quiet or NBC's mics and presentation were effecting the perceived loudness. I heard it get loud towards the end of the game though. If it was loud throughout the game it just didn't come across the TV that way.

I'm not sure who brought up style points but that wasn't me...haha.

My observations.

I go to a game and miss good booby pictures posted in this thread, but taken down before I get to see them? Man do I feel left out; and maybe it was something different maybe one had a green nipple or something, I don't know.

The b1tching on this thread has risen to a new level. If you were in that stadium last night you saw an incredible effort by both teams. I have never said anything nice about USC, but those kids gave it their everything. There was hitting at the highest impact. There were plays (often) where it was hard for one or more player to get up. But everybody did. All these kids deserve everyone's respect, and that is what the recruits saw:

HEART

I talked with a couple of the recruits briefly. Shook hands with more than a few. They saw heart, early play time, and a lot of love.

I mentioned it in the new Tommy appreciation thread. All these kids play their hearts out, play past injury, and give it their all. There is no commonality with some of the more "cerebral" teams of the late 90's and the '00ghts.

The defensive line was awesome. Tuitt was killing them. I swear a couple of the SC offensive linemen were scarred of him. I know Cody was! Nix played through massive holding, by multiple players. There were a couple times when one player would hold him, tie up his arms and another player would hit him under the pads with his helmet, pads, or fists. This happened on one of the two times LNix was slow to get up. Day was looking good on that ankle. But he must be out of playing shape. Kona is king; he was solid and brutal all night. Ishaq was getting to the ball, and because of that he was being held so badly that at times (more than once) between the holding and his own momentum, he was being swung around like a baseball bat.

The dominance of the line not withstanding, the real scoop was the linebackers. They have not played the way they did last night, at all during the season. Yes a part was Jaylon Smiths freakish continued performance, on what was already a Freshman All American season. But Romeo Okwara was unstoppable wherever he played. Prince was solid. Carlo and Danny Fox were like a double barrel 12 guage on the inside, and the most impressive improvement and in my uninformed opinion, the biggest reason for the improved linebacker play in the amazing defensive second half, was Joe Schmidt.

People laughed last week as he looked kind of lost. He is exactly what this defense needs, someone called him a dollar linebacker for the change package defenses. He is a smart fleet footed kid who can read a quarterback and deliver a blow! If this kid keeps getting better, look out. The staff now has a passing down linebacker who knows what to do!

Also, I sat next to a guy that was working on the Stadium 2.0 project and learned a few interesting things.

Didn't look at the thread to this morning.

Got to say brilliant work. Who knew a win a over a big rival could have that kind of an affect.

So Willingham and Weis should get the credit for USC's long run?

Really, at some point the staff or players gotta get credit. Its still a rivalry game and no matter how good or bad one is anything can happen. Theyve still had a lot of talent, and we also have beat them with Tommy at QB twice. We lost our starting qb from last year and have had transfers and stuff. This staff is doing well and the future still looks pretty good

Ha good point, but I did say a lot, not all the credit. IMO Carroll, as much as I dislike him, is a superior coach (and dbag) to BK.

Also my apologies that comment was ment in partial sarcasm. I need to be aware message boards are all about proving the other poster is wrong. I LOVE BK AND STAFF!!!!

I will put more in each recruits thread. But I stood just east of the reflecting pool, so on the path from the Gug. The player walk was different this time, the recruits came first, without a lot of hoopla, and no one with them but their families and a few officers and one ND official. Then came the team. It is more relaxed before the team gets to the left turn and meets the pipe and drum corps. Kelly came first with no assistants my friend shouted a cheer, I wished him good luck, and he turned and said, "Thanks guys, have a great time at the game today!" He was the most relaxed I have ever seen him.

The team came by, and spoke to Corey, flashed him the peace sign, and he laughed, pointed to my jersey and winked when I wished TJ good luck and he said something like man that always looks good. I wished Troy Niklas good luck and he looked at me, and stopped and shook hands. I have a fair grip. I now understand why he locks on to balls and holds on. Man that thing was like a vice! All and all the team looked loose, confident and intent. Their concentration was good and they obviously had the game in their sights. I felt better when I saw them. Isaac Rochelle stands out in the group. Schmidt isn't really big, but he is animated. Danny Spond was right in the middle of his teammates. Next to Danny, Joe is my best guess of someone who could have a successful political career. I would like some of the student's feedback on that point!

Thanks for the vids, Buster. Anyone know where to find the stadium photo where you can zoom in and tag yourself?

Maybe this is a dumb question, but does anybody know: do they let recruits into the locker room -- before or after games, and/or at halftime? How much of that stuff do they see?

He's full of it and doesn't have any....No reason to leave us hanging on something like that.

Sincerely, Pat, fvck you very much!

I have bee trying to spend as much time spilling all of what I learned this weekend and I started with recruiting impressions as they seem to be more time sensitive.

In the mean time my seven year old attacked a dog with his face while visiting his mom at ex-in-laws. And I haven't slept in three days. So I am sorry, I didn't get it all out, besides I wanted to look at some pictures and try to identify who I really sat next to Saturday night.

Bogs I need you to spill the hearsay on the stadium expansions..

The guy was feeling me out all night. The big thing is tactfully replacing the benches in the stadium proper. That is the way I would say it. I bet they would like to take the North side down to show more Touchdown Jesus, but I don't think that is in the plans, but they will go up to replace the seat loss from below, especially on the south side of the stadium (toward Eddie Street). More later. MOST IMPORTANT POINT. THEY ARE PUTTING THOSE THAT WILL BE MAKING THE PLANS IN THE SEATS TO SEE AND PRESERVE THE ATMOSPHERE.

I really liked the fact that it wasn't a typical arch/eng project removed from the lunch bucket!

More later.
