I agree, I've had lots of fun there. I am jealous many weekends of my brother who has fifty yard line season tickets for about what I would have to pay annually to get in the lottery and the chance to buy a few tickets.

Most programs are like Iowa State. Too many are quick to slam them as worthless but we should respect the home town value. Even top SEC schools have lots of empty seats for most of their games. I mean, who is sticking around to watch Bama lay 60 on some FCS school?

Every week, four quarters. That is the fan support you get at ND. It is pretty much unmatched in college football.

You are right on with this. I know Notre Dame has amazing fans and its shows in home and away games.

OT: I would say that Nebraska's fans are probably the most loyal in college football, that is just my thoughts on the matter. They travel amazingly well, probably better than all other teams in college football, and they have sold out the most home games consecutively. I will say that the four quarter part is lacking there sometimes. I have been to quite a few Husker games and if they are losing you can expect that the stadium will not be full in the fourth quarter.

Yes, ISU might pack the house for a big opponent, but the stadium can get vacated if a blowout is afoot. They have upset enough big dogs that the fans will get rocking but they also have seen their fair share of curb stompings and won't stick around for it.

To draw in another thread, the Alma Mater at the end of the game keeps people around to the end. Not the mass exodus you see at many stadiums the minute the outcome is determined.

I don't think Nebraska is off topic, they travel very well. Not sure how well they travel for lesser opponents though. ND sold out Wake Forest for example. Can Nebraska single handedly sell out a stadium 400 miles from home? I dunno, but they would be at the top of the list of fans bases that could do it.

Nebraska fans travel well for most games, not just the big ones. The big games they will pay any amount of money just to get tickets. Many thought that once Nebraska moved to the Big Ten they simply would not travel to the northern states as well, and that has not yet happened.

It would be hard to expect them to sell out an entire stadium, as most their fans do "travel" to away games. Notre Dame has a very broad fanbase, as there are literally large groups in each state. I would be willing to bet that most of the ND fans in the stadium this weekend will not be from Indiana. What makes Nebraska so special in this regard is that their fans truly do "travel" from Nebraska and fill stadiums pretty well.

Ohio State sold out, and filled (slightly different), the 103,000+ seats against Florida A&M. Ohio loves it some Buckeye footbaww.

The last time ND didn't sell out was Thanksgiving Day 1973 against Air Force. I was there and it was still almost full. If I remember correctly, the sell out streak at ND before that Air Force game was pretty impressive.

Guy better start winning games, or he won't be playing for him! It's such a double standard, this guy goes off and he passionate, BK goes off and it pushes kids away, why? Because ISU stinks every year, and they want "passion and fire". It's not ok to have "passion and fire" when you are successful? (Not saying that BK is pushing AL away, but it has been mentioned before with other recruits)

The ISU coach was going off on the refs. The passion that "pushes kids away" is when BK goes into Satan mode on players after they screw up and come to the sideline (which I don't really have a problem with). After a loss like ISU just had, BK is too professional to start a tirade against the refs. Also, ISU wasn't expected to win, while ND is always expected to win, so people are more sympathetic to ISU's cause. If ND had been in the exact same situation, instead of glorifying the coach standing up for his players, the media coverage would be about ND coach Brian Kelly whining about refs. That's something BK gets a lot of respect for in my books: he's usually quite professional in his interviews.

I couldn’t agree more! I already went into Satan mode on my son, who is 5 days old, Stop crying you are way too tough for that! It didn’t work, woke up crying every hour on the hour last night:) When my 2 year old daughter cries its ok in my book:) Just for the record my son is officially bad luck. Nd lost and the Bears lost in his short life. I told him last night we need good vibes from him during the ASU game on Saturday, I think he got the message:)

Don't waste the effort yelling at someone who does not understand words. Just give them a few knocks with a shillelagh. Pain is something they can understand.

The better question regarding the ISU game is:

Why was their coach calling a pass play when there is 15 seconds left, you're well into field goal range and you're down by 1?

That's about as dumb as throwing a fade to the back of the endzone when you are down by one.... wut?

A 59 yard field goal is not well into FG range for a NFL kicker, much less a crappy college one.

Sounds pretty darn solid to ISU, unfortunately.

I don't even think I can hope this kid flips anymore. If he loves ISU that much and is willing to do such a good thing with his opportunity that is probably the best place for him and somewhere he can make a positive impact on and off the field. Good for him.

I don't think there's a question as to where he ends up.
