i hope he comes back next and just blows up in the Heisman race. As a RS freshman, he showed a lot of promise, he will be 2 years older, much more experienced, and he is getting professional instruction on mechanics and QB play.

Experience? Notre Dame coaches aren't professionals?

"Heisman race??" Sheez--- how about just setting the bar at competent dynamic Notre Dame quarterback?? If Everett simply shows that he has the offense under control, is essentially interception and fumble free, has improved mechanics and longball accuracy, then I'll be delighted, even if he still can't see over the middle well enough to make quick accurate reads.

It's laying the groundwork so people can be pissed next fall and blame Kelly, Longo, Swarbrick, and Obama that the season isn't going as well as the koolaid man told them it would.

Or dropping the Heisman entirely and instituting the Everett.... yeah, THAT's the ticket.

Only at Notre Dame.

As ridiculous as this sounds to us now. It did kinda happen last year, with us going to the championship and Manti being a Heisman finalist, but I digress. It is very unlikely to happen next year, but isn't as unlikely as you make it sound.

Loy spoke with a source who has had recent contact with Golson.

Whitfield has been really impressed with Golson's arm velocity. Among the best of the QBs he has worked with recently.

Whitfield thought Golson's footwork needed a ton of work and they've worked hard on cleaning it up.

They've also been tweaking his throwing motion to make it more compact and they've been working on strength and speed to increase his overall athleticism.

Golson's plan is still to return to ND next season.

Does the above ever actually translate onto the field? I think from a couple of seasons of reading this stuff about Tebow I am very cynical about the whole QB guru stuff.

In such a situation like that, it's up to the QB.

It's hard to change and stick with that change against something that has always been considered natural.

You can alter and tweak it as much as you want, but sometimes, you always go back to your roots. Like Tebow.

That there is the real key. More mature, has his priorities defined, laid out and is now working the plan. It comes with getting a little bit older everyday.

The Heisman's already locked up. Haven't you been following Kuehnja posts on Bryant?

He's going to score 40 TDs as soon as the Kelly, Martin, and Alford stop being biased against him. Golson will only have to be a game manager and hand him the ball 40 times a game.

The rest of your comments are on the mark, as usual.

There might still be time for Bryant this year.

Stop it. I missed that in the Bryant thread. Did he really say that?

If you took that as anything other than tongue and cheek, you've clearly lost your touch.

Ya, because I am such a negative nancy that I am setting it up to start being more negative... good one... I have been blaming all those people every chance I get...

And no, ND coaches have nothing on a person who specializes and focuses on just QB play. NFL players go to this guy, not their head coach.

That's why I said "so people" instead of "he." Sheesh.

My Mom probably summed up everything best. She called me after the game and said Everett Golson really let this team down.

Hopefully, he can come back a better man and become the leader we all hoped and thought he would be.

I blame the ineptitude of the ND Offense not on the OL not making adjustments to defensive looks or getting to the second level in the running game. I don't blame the RBs finding the holes. I don't blame the **** poor playcalling (although it is infuriating). I don't even blame Tommy's obvious confusion on the field or his poor decisions to throw into double coverage. I blame Golson and his idiotic, selfish decision to cheat on a test and let the entire team down. I know everyone is excited about his return, but I'm not really. Our offense would be much better with him this year and it was right there in front of him and he completely blew it and took a dump on the entire team. As I think about a 3-2 record and the prospect of an 8-4 season, my blame is focused on the guy who could have made a huge difference and made a purposeful error in judgment that made ND a worse team this year.
