taken from the sooner report posted earlier:

“Their schemes are all the same,” Stoops explained. “They’ve got good athletes and are well disciplined in everything that they do. So I see them very similar, you know watching them, as they were a year ago.”

Senior co-captain Gabe Ikard said control on the line of scrimmage was a key component of the game last year and will be important yet again.

“The most important thing from last year was who controlled the line of scrimmage and that was obviously them,” Ikard said. “We didn’t run the ball well at all. They started to wear us out. That’s our focus now. Establishing and controlling the line of scrimmage.”

“They want to control the ball, they want to run it,” Stoops concluded. “They want to play action pass because they’re such a good run team and they make you respect the run game. That’s what got us a year ago. We missed a couple hits and they kept running it and running it and finally creased us and then after they did that they hit a big pass. Again, this is a very difficult preparation. (Tommy) Rees throws a very good ball, they have two go-to receivers. They can defend the whole field and they just missed some passes a week ago.”

I thought this was the most interesting part of the presser. It sounded to me, listening to Kelly's answer, like he basically thinks the OL is doing a great job run blocking ... its the TEs and WRs who need to step it up (he didn't mention them but that was the clear implication).

I thought it had more to do with teams stacking the box against us.

They better hand out green raincoats and sweaters for all the old farts if they want a green out. they wouldnt be seen dead in tshirts!

Watch your manners you young whipper snapper. (Did that sound old enought for you?) I'm 61, proudly wear my green t-shirt and probably own more ND t-shirts than you. lol

To have a green out, they need to be able to reach those traveling in that won't see forums like this or the local media where it will be mentioned.

Second most interesting thing I heard in the press conference was about the intermediate passing game. I am not sure what I heard, but I assume there was an overall blocking breakdown, like the play that Koyack had.

The really interesting think is that Kelly sort of laid the problem of the running game off of the internal five offensive linemen. He made it sound like a lot of it was the other six guys on the field (a few at a time/per play), and overall timing, backs not hitting the hole, and wide receivers not blocking etc.

I was surprised that he saw it that way . . .

Maybe. I'll look at it again when the transcript comes out. I was doing other stuff at work while listening so I may have misunderstood but I thought he was trying hard to say that it's not the OL's fault without explicitly calling out the TEs and WRs.

Which is a huge percentage of the attendance. Unless they send something with the ticket lottery results I don't see how it is possible.

Then again, I know my in-laws wouldn't be caught dead in public wearing a t-shirt. They are the problem personified to me.

After a couple of times against MSU, I think this is an indication that we'll see it a little more against OU.

Our TE's and WR's did a fantastic job blocking last year.
