I support the team and who is on the team I dont make it personal only I want the best kids to play and help this team win a national championship. Thats it and thats all. Do you agree?
Lastly, dont be so sure that fans will welcome him back with open arms especially if this team is doing well without him. JS

I agree...We're all quick to assume that he, A. will be back...B. We'll be better off when he does come back.

If we're rolling, I don't care if he comes back.

So Golson next year could be the Rees of last year.

Yes, that's a good way to put. Anything is possible, especially if Malik earns the lead. If he does, he will certainly have bumps along the way. Who better to help back him up then a quarterback with Golson's skill set? If that scenario plays out, we will be in tremendous shape at the QB position.

Respectfully, I believe many will welcome Everett back, including Malik. If anyone wants to cast a stone, let them cast it, but part of growing up is learning how to earn trust and forgive when that trust has been broken, and there are few better models for learning both lessons than that of a team. As a former ND grad, the aspect I continue to respect most about my University is its willingness to embrace the spirit of family. This is a family, sir. Malik might very well be our starter next year, but make no mistake, many will encourage an Everett return, whether as lead QB or on the sidelines.

Everybody on this site [who is a real Notre Dame fan] wants Malik Zaire to be an All-American and Everett Golson to be an All-American. Everybody on this site wants both of them in Spring 2014 football camp competing at astounding levels. Nobody wants anything bad for either of them.

And.... all commentary that I've heard from the coaching staff has been "disappointed" in Everett, but highly welcoming of his getting his act together and coming back to the team. Where any pointed argument about this is coming from boggles the mind... especially when it threatens to create dissension.

REAL... BAD.... IDEA.

Your first point is widely agreed upon. I can't stress enough how much this board agrees with that. We are also all confident and hopeful that Malik can be the best guy to lead this team at some point.

But I strongly disagree with you on your second point and think others will back me up on this. If we are rolling and Malik is tearing the roof off, we will still support Everett alsongside his teammates. We won't be calling for Malik to sit, but we will be excited about Golson (who again, led us up to the NCG) pushing Malik and preparing himself to take advantage of any opportunity that arises. That's what's crazy about the QB situation. If anyone could reasonably predict the QB situatio, then Dayne Crist should have been the starter last year according to popular opinion of three years ago. So don't think that Malik playing well will make this board turn on Golson. We will all welcome him back, hope that he works hard, become a better man, compete to help this team and graduate from the best university in the land.

That's what we do here, we would do the same for Malik.

I support the school first the legacy the history and the brand...Again I am saying why would the young man come back and face the kind of under the micro-scope stuff he would have to deal with. Thats not the kind of life anybody let alone a kid would have to deal with. Let the kid get a fresh start somewhere else and re-make his life there. Thats all I am saying. AS for the Zaire kid I wish him well and believe that he will shock everyone on how he will handle himself this year at the helm.

You may understand the football legacy but you don't seem to have a remote understanding of the school's legacy.

If you're a troll it doesn't matter, you'll never get it. If you're a relative you need to understand it.

Ross Browner, Willie Fry and a couple of others got tossed for an embarrassing matter. So did Stonebreaker. They could have gone anywhere. They chose to come back to ND.

So did MacAlarney.

So did Julius Jones.

The list is long.

Not all did. Some were short-sighted. Some lacked the fortitude.

Many are called, few are chosen.

Was BK kidding when he said he might be suspended for releasing info about himself coming back? Refer to Brian Hamilton's tweet.

Yes lets suspend the kid who will (in the unlikely event of a complete QB meltdown) keep his redshirt. That would be awesome.

Then we can add him to the transfer speculation list right?

Yes and light our hair on fire, hit the panic button, start a prayer thread, freak out, call for Kelly's head, Longo too( because with better conditioning he wouldn't have said it), and then blame it all on Tommy.

Back to the rumored suspension.

Assuming it's not a joke.

Does anyone on here know what he could have done to violate team rules?
Is Kelly the only one allowed to announce health statuses or something like that?

I'm assuming this is some sort of mickey mouse rule.

I think it is related to him talking about his health.

I actually think it makes perfect sense. What if a guy like DD has an ankle injury and status is uncertain for the next game. It would be to ND's advantage to keep his status as murky as possible. If DD would go on Twitter and announce he is cleared would work against ND.

I know MZ is not DD, but you need to hold everyone to the same rules.

I think this happened in the offseason but my memory is hazy. A player declared on twitter that they were healthy/or having surgery or something and BK wasn't happy.

Tommy is so immobile the defense never gets any practice chasing mobile QB's and thus they are so slow

Thanks.

So this "suspension" would just be a "violated team rules" suspension? One game max, right?

I just wanted to make sure this wasn't a administration issue.
