Is he mobile at all? If not, don't want.

I was just coming in to post that. It's the way the winds are blowing these days, and it's not just a fad.

It's great if you find Peyton Manning, but without an absolute HR, it's easier to get dynamic talent from a mobile QB.

Alabama has done pretty well without a mobile QB. Have you guys seen Rosen throw the ball? Thing of beauty

Like Gunner Kiel?

Don't mean to rag on Rosen, as he certainly seems to be an elite QB prospect. And I'd love to get him. But "program changer" is a pretty heavy label to put on a kid who's barely a junior in high school, especially for a program as established as ours. We've had plenty of elite recruits come through in recent years, the only one I might call a "program changer" is Te'o. Might.

I think you may be over complicating GB's program changer idea. There are guys who will "put you in a time machine" as my old ball coach would like to say. Guys who will put you that much closer to a NC. Guys like Stephon Tuitt, Louis Nix, Manti Te'o...these are the caliber of players that will affect your program. Guys who will determine the whether you are an 8-5 team or a 11-2 team a couple years down the road.

It's much like there are program changing wins or losses. Beating Utah and USC in 2010 sped up the process for this team.

If you are saying that it's simply too early to say whether Rosen would be a "program changer", I'd say that's a fair argument, but saying that Te'o is the only program changer we've had? I'd have to say you'd be wrong on that one.

Exactly, I think having a QB like Rosen or someone will the ability to shread defenses is hurting us. Look at the AP top 10, 9 out of the top 10 teams have excellent/elite QB's. Going forward I don't really like where we sit with QB's at all. I think Rosen would be an offensive program changer if you want to call him that. IMO biggest recruit we need next year. We need to land a big time QB.

He's really just trying to get ND fans to look at the articles. All it says is that ND's offer caught his attention but he's really just waiting on Stanford. If Stanford doesn't offer we could make this interesting with Cal as his parents want him at an elite academic school but he doesn't see that happening.

What's up with ND and Stanford taking their sweet time to offer top recruits while Michigan as extended tons of offers even though their class next year should be really small. Is it me or was BK quicker to extend offers in his first 2 years?

just a guess but do you see a difference in ND/Stanford vs Michigan in terms of Student athlete....admissions might be a tad different vs michigan

Without a doubt but it seems to me like ND has been slow in the last two recruiting cycles to get offers out (compared with BK's first years).

I think this doesn't apply to Rosen in particular, but is probably true generally. It's a good school, but even Michigan homers admit their admissions standards for athletes are identical to the NCAA minimum.

With ND being burned of late by decommits, I'd also guess they're just being more careful about offering kids from far away generally.

USC is in the race since Kiffin was fired. Cal leads. Still pissed at Stanford for not offering yet

How bad must Kiffin feel that they don't need to even get a replacement and kids are more willing to come to the school?

IMO, that had something to do with why they did it. So many kids were publicly saying how much of a turnoff it has been, the chanting Fire Kiffin. Recruits telling the recruiting services that they were waiting to see what happened with the coaching situation before he was fired. With only 56 schollie players they have to be aware that the only way to turn this around in the next year or two is to have some unbelievable success recruiting.
