Reps, I liked it.

The end was awesome:

Post 0:26 – You toss the ball to a student manager as everyone sets the drill back up in the correct fashion. The ESPN cameras are moving along, cameraman dying of laughter. They think they got you, embarrassed you, you know different.

You look at coach Kelly, he looks at you and nods with approval.

He knows and you know one simple truth: Notre Dame needs half a yard?

Give the Cam the damn ball.

Indeed, give the Cam the damn ball. I've changed my mind. Cam's gonna be the damn starter.

I just can't help it. No matter whether he gets the ball or not; no matter whether the IE nay-sayers diss him or not, this is my guy.

Damm it, Coach!! At least Once in a while Give Cam the Damm Ball!!!

GA3's hands are not too good, so unless he made serious strides over the off season I will respectfully disagree.

I don't know if you've been watching the camp videos, but there are numerous clips of GAIII
in the slot in an empty backfield in the red zone catching TD passes on out routes.

Poor guys got 3 posts in the thread since 8/23.

He wins The Rodney Dangerfield Award for No Respect.

But then he's not 5 Star nor impatient. He just carryies the mail. Neither snow, nor stitches, nor gloom of night will keep him from doing so.

After Cam McDaniel, it should say Winner. Others might have to get "Whiner" next to their names soon.

If some of the more talent players on this team had the heart the Cam does we could have some really good players.

After three weeks watching the team, I think it has become clear that you have to play people who are confident in their roles, want to be in their badly, and hungry to make plays. Cam fits that bill, he'd be my starter on Saturday. On a side note it is time, in my opinion to do more than talk about playing the freshman running backs some.

-- at Coach's order, of course -- played himself even further into everyone's hearts as a receiver, runner and tackler. His one catch, for negative-3 yards? That was more like a takeaway from Purdue corner Antoine Lewis, who had jumped the route and probably had pick-six on his mind before McDaniel won the tug-of-war battle in the second quarter. His four consecutive runs later on the drive -- including the lost-helmet carry -- helped set the Irish up for their first three points of the game. His one tackle, in the third quarter, stopped Purdue's B.J. Knauf on a 39-yard kickoff return, which, of course, came immediately after his 1-yard touchdown run had tied the game at 10. . . .

. . . He saw action on all but three plays on the drive -- an early third-down Daniels catch and two Rees kneels to make this one official. He tallied 42 yards during the possession, despite failing to gain on three different plays.

I mean, what do you want in a starting ball carrier, other than obviously a different skin color!

wasnt everyone clamoring for Amir to be the starter after the Michigan game. Seriously, you guys need to calm down.

I think Cam, Amir, and Bryant should be getting the carries. Really I'd like to see Amir in the Slot exclusively so we can get him in space and he can make plays. I don't think he's a great runner between the tackles. His big run of the year came when he was bounced to the outside. Cam and I'm guessing Bryant probably run between the tackles the best, I think they should be getting most of the carries.

Built Ford Tough Texas Player of the Year his senior year at Coppell, playing against 5A competition. I remember the discounting reviews in 2010 - undersized, good but not real good, short on elite speed. Cam has earned the carries he will get against Michigan State.

How am I getting worked up by saying Amir played like complete shits last night? 11 carries for 16 yards and a big fumble that let PU back in the game. Cam looked much better. That's not really even debatable. I also never called for Amir to be the starter. Personally I don't think he should be.

My favorite thing about Cam is the ridiculous effort/ability to fall forward and maximize his yards gained. Perfect example was the final drive when he got tripped up on a first down carry around the end. Instead of dropping and taking the ~4 yards, he plants his foot, does an awkward hop, and then floats through the air for an extra 3 yards. Not to mention, he stayed in bounds and kept the clock moving.

Idk if I'm still in love with the game he had last night, but I feel like the holes seem to be a bit bigger when Cam is on the field compared to the other RBs. Perhaps the line enjoys blocking for a warrior?

Or perhaps it's because he has the best vision of all the backs on the team? He reads the flow of the play early and makes decisive cuts for positive yardage. I can think of at least three plays last night where Amir should've made an early cut and would've hit a huge seam, but failed to see the seams developing. Cam does not fail to see these things when he plays.

Looked good and is tough. He deserves more carries going forward. Pack on some more weight and he could be Toby Geirhart (sp) like.

We need a guy who can break one on any touch. Cam just isn't that guy. He'll get you three of four yards on a carry, but he'll never break a long one that changes a game. That said, he ran tough against Purdue and was the most productive back who got a real opportunity to play.

Why do we need a running back that can break one on any touch? We have wide receivers that have demonstrated that.

One think I am sure we need is a running back that can pound it and never get less than four yards a carry.
