“@EHood34: Big day tomorrow it will decide whether I am going early or not gotta sell this plan to Mr. Healy #LetsGo”

I understand the staff may suggest a student/player EE, but does the staff get involved with the HS when looking at EE's? Are they allowed to or is it just something the student has to work out with the HS?

that is strictly up to the school's decision to let them

not just the school though, the athlete has to have passed or in a position to pass all his required courses a semester early.

Not necessarily true. I know in GA they have a lot of joint enrollment where they are receiving their remaining high school credit for the college classes they take. Not sure if ND would even consider this but some of the universities do have that option.

Hoods spot in the RB rankings is still bullshit. A shame Wiltfong's opinion carries like no weight in their scouting, he has said as much before. For example Royce Freeman is a Hood type back and is now now #27 Overall because Hopkins & Simmons have huge man crushes on him because he's from the West

LMFAO.

A UNC fan just asked on tBB on 247 where they are discussing the new rankings why Elijah Hood is so overrated.

LMFAO.

A UNC fan just asked on tBB on 247 where they are discussing the new rankings why Elijah Hood is so overrated.

JC's response:

Hood's competition level is awful. That scares me. Physically, though, he's 6-0, 220 and runs sub-4.5 and he looked like he belonged athletically at The Opening.

Neither are overrated. If anything we have both too low because Miller has such a high ceiling as he gets bigger and matures physically and with Hood, the level of competition may not even matter. He breaks tackles like it's his job on film, but when you are weighing that, if he is doing it against the little sisters of the poor, that's something to consider.

Great attitude.

Gone are the days of self-entitlement throughout the roster. Gotta earn everything. Makes everyone better.

Communicated his plan to enroll early to his high school and they will let him know their decision in one week. Said they will "go through all channels to try and make it happen for him."

Great news. I really hope they let him. Not sure I can endure an extra 6 months of "I can't wait to be in South Bend" tweets from Hood and "I can't wait for this kid to be on campus" posts from the masses on here.

How big would it be to get a kid this physically imposing on his own in a whole semester/summer early with a top notch strength coach and facilities.

Sometimes I think we, as a fan base, forget how important it was to the program that ol' puddin' pants Charlie Weis got the university to allow early enrolling. He may not got to see the benefits but Kelly and the program as a whole have.

I am too lazy to look up, but how many EE's have we had since it was allowed?

How many of those got to play for Kelly that EE'd under Weis?

Is it safe to bet that maybe 50% of those kids wouldn't have ended up at ND had we not changed our stance (i.e. it hypothetically came down to ND and X University who offers EE. and that was important to recruit)?

Not our player but just look at the case in 2013 of Kylie Fitts. EE has been a HUGE addition to the program and it makes us a better team beyond getting the players some adjustment time to get some classes(most important in my opinion), strength training, and practice behind them.

FBU Top Gun: Final thoughts and observations

I really believe that Elijah Hood is going to be incredibly productive in college at Notre Dame. He’s a bowling ball of a back that is jacked from a physical standpoint and has off-the-charts athletic testing numbers but that’s not why I’m putting my chips on Hood. His work ethic is what makes him a smart bet.
Mixed among the blue chippers at the Top Gun camp were a few players that were marginal Division I candidates – the type of players that may have to provide scout team and special teams value as high effort guys to make an FBS roster. Judging strictly by Hood’s effort level and focus in workouts, you’d think he was one of those borderline players.
He’s going to be a fun player to teach as a coach, a fun player to root for as a fun and a terrifying player to tackle as a defender.

Daily 5: The top five performers at FBU's Top Gun Camp

3. Elijah Hood

One of the most highly-recruited, high-profile prospects at the event, Hood played with an attitude as if he was a walk-on fighting for a roster spot. The thick, athletic running back was full speed throughout, finished every rep to the whistle and displayed an affinity for catching the ball out of the backfield. He’s committed to Notre Dame and the Irish are getting a good one.

This attitude is why it doesn't matter if you have 5* next to to your name if you're all ability and no work ethic. Glad it sounds like we got the total package in Hood.

Great to hear this, I have never followed any of these type of camps but i imagine its common to have high rated guys go to them and goof off while under the radar guys are working their tails off to chase their dreams. Good to see EH as a top ranked guy still have that work ethic and passion. 2014's Michael Deeb perhaps
