FBU Top Gun: Final thoughts and observations
I really believe that Elijah Hood is going to be incredibly productive in college at Notre Dame. He’s a bowling ball of a back that is jacked from a physical standpoint and has off-the-charts athletic testing numbers but that’s not why I’m putting my chips on Hood. His work ethic is what makes him a smart bet.
Mixed among the blue chippers at the Top Gun camp were a few players that were marginal Division I candidates – the type of players that may have to provide scout team and special teams value as high effort guys to make an FBS roster. Judging strictly by Hood’s effort level and focus in workouts, you’d think he was one of those borderline players.
He’s going to be a fun player to teach as a coach, a fun player to root for as a fun and a terrifying player to tackle as a defender.

3. Elijah Hood
One of the most highly-recruited, high-profile prospects at the event, Hood played with an attitude as if he was a walk-on fighting for a roster spot. The thick, athletic running back was full speed throughout, finished every rep to the whistle and displayed an affinity for catching the ball out of the backfield. He’s committed to Notre Dame and the Irish are getting a good one.
