I just read the cliff notes version of all the books, and OMG.

Three things I wan to happen

1.) Ramsey dies a very painful death
2.) Jon Snow is alive
3.) Aegon becomes king

If the second doesn't happen I'm going to go nuts. I don't know how you guys have put up with GRRM this long. Some of you have been invested in this series since the mid 90's.

1. I'm not sure if it'll be a "very painful" death per say, but I'd be very surprised if Ramsey survives tWoW. I think things are about to go to hell in a hand basket for the Boltons, and Roose is setting up Ramsey to take the fall.

2. I'm not sure if he'll survive the multiple stabs, but most people think he'll be alive in some form or fashion. A popular theory is that Melisandre will give Jon the "kiss of life", similar to what Thoros gave Beric Dondarion, and Dondarion to Cat. Others think he's going to live (warg) through Ghost. We'll see. You never know with GRRM.

3. So, you thing Young Griff is really a Targaryen?

Check out westeros.org if you haven't already to read all of these theories. You'll waste countless hours on there though, I will warn you. So much great material that I missed while reading the books.

And yeah, agreed with the last part. I started reading the books last summer after watching the first two seasons. I read the five books in around nine months. I'm dying for tWoW to come out. I have NO idea how these guys who have been reading this series since the 90s have made it...

Targaryen or Blackfyre, Aegon will sit on the throne for some period of time. He's already in Westeros, he's got Varys on the inside assassinating important people in King's Landing, he's got enough support to take King's Landing which is in complete disarray, and the Seven Kingdom's aren't ready to fight, especially with Cersei ruining everything. My guess is Tommen and Myrcella die pretty early in TWOW and Aegon takes the throne.

For those of us who are well ahead of the actual series on HBO, does anyone have any info on when Book 6 is scheduled for release or what the title is supposed to be? Personnally I'm dying to continue the story.

That's still tentative though. The book isn't done and GRRM won't estimate when it will be done because he knows his fans will flip out if the book isn't done by that date. That was the drama with the last book; he struggled to finish it and he kept having to push back the release date, which enraged his fans.

I have to be honest... I got into the books after watching the first episode of the show... read through them all up to date as of a few months back... now that I'm removed from them a bit I'm not sure I like them as much... to each their own but a big part of the series (books, not show) is just too depressing for me... don't get me wrong, I know many here LOVE it and more power to ya... just my two cents.

maybe I'm just not a fiction reader to begin with... I read mostly non-fiction so yeah... not sure I need to read further... at least at this moment.

Can you explain that? I'm not sure I follow the logic. So if he's not going to buckle down on the book till late 2014, then it likely won't be out until 2015, right?

He recently announced four projects coming out next year, none of which are WoW. I'm not saying he would announce it but I wouldn't read too much into his schedule if he's going to have other stuff to promote.

All that traveling just increases his chances of dying in a car/plane crash. Dude should be chained to his desk with a pen duct taped to his hand! The public demands it!!!!

Ha, I was thinking the same thing. I can't imagine living with this series for that long.

GRRM is falling into the trap that many authors do when their marquee series comes to its culmination... they simply don't want to end the story that has become their life, so they drag it out longer and longer and longer to make it "perfect."

Most expect 6 to be released late 2014. There is also a tentative 2017-18 goal for completion of the series. Why? Because HBO is forging ahead and basically already knows his ending. They've said they're doing 7 seasons to wrap it up... they could push it to 8 or stretch it out in some other way... but he's on the clock.

I am quite wary though of how little focus he directs towards completing the series.
