My call on this one is that he will commit to the Irish by mid July. Being their # 1 target simply means that he... along with a couple of others... are their # 1 target for the receiving corp as a group. Nothing I have read leads me to believe he won't end up Irish. And I think he can be a solid WR for ND moving forward.

“@GridironStuds: What's your opinion on Corey Holmes from St. Thomas Aquinas? — The most underrated WR in the state of FL"

That is Gridiron Studs a HS football website that covers Florida headed by a Chad Wilson aka Quincy Wilson's father, the DC for University School.

Nice. That would be awesome if the Irish could land both Wilson and Holmes. I think you guys have Holmes locked up. Wilson I am not as sure about yet.

Has he set a date for the UCLA visit? Or has he visited UCLA yet? I looked on his 247 timeline, and it didn't say anything, just wondering if I missed something.

He is going there after the Opening, with the visit set to start on the 9th I believe.

Thanks, seems like he is really excited about checking UCLA out, but sounds like people are pretty confident in our chances so I won't worry too much.

This visit will basically decide his recruitment going forward. If he doesn't really like UCLA, I firmly believe he commits to ND shortly after the visit. If he does like it, this looks like it will stretch through OVs to both places.

Nothing further needs to be said in this thread. Hit the nail on the head

Is it just me or is UCLA becoming a bigger pain in our side than USC now?

Well they do have more scholarships to give.

Seriously, though, yes, at least at the moment. They're on the rise. They're a good school in a great location. They've got a lot to offer, and they're a logical place for many of the kids who might consider Notre Dame to also look at. USC's still a force, obvs, but everyone knows what they are, and that right now they've got problems.
But if UCLA has another good year, I do wonder how long Mora sticks around, and where they go when he leaves.

They're definitely a dangerous school. Given their recent history, it's easy to forget that they, not USC or the Huskies, won the most Pac-10 championships in the 80s and 90s, or that they dominated SC just over a decade ago.

i feel confident UCLA's progress isnt sustainable, you know Mora is going to knife them in the back when any half decent NFL job comes up

For anyone that thinks Holmes isn't a great talent - check this out from Scout.com:

13. Corey Holmes, WR St. Thomas Aquinas -- At 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, Holmes probably has the best leaping ability of any receiver in this year's class. He can flat out climb the ladder and go get it. He is very well coached at St. Thomas and knows how to run routes and get open. The ideal size and top notch athleticism make him a very good wide receiver prospect. Miami offered him early in the process but he's focused on out-of-state schools and seems to be on the verge of committing to Notre Dame.

Unfortunately, I don't think we have the luxury of saying ours isn't either... at least not yet anyway.

Hadn't read that before, but always loved him. Thanks for posting.

Yes, UCLA is the only other real player here. If he still loves ND after this visit, most pundits believe he will be Irish shortly thereafter. If he enjoys his visit, then the process will continue through the season.

The kid looks like he has gained some good weight and is bigger than he had been at previous events, according to ISD.

I wonder how his leaping ability stacks up against Dupre and Speedy Noil. They just verticaled 42.4" and 45.3" respectively at The Opening.
