Per Jake Brown Tranquil recieved positive attention from Diaco and was worked out at Safety and was compared by Diaco to Zeke Motta. Sounds like his position would be the "Star" in hopes he becomes a Safety not a DOG. Drue reports he was the third fastest at the camp w/ a 4.50 behind his little brother Justin and someone he doesn't know.

Elston told him the staff will meet and let him know next week

If he ran a legit 4.5 sign him the heck up. My only hesitation is that we have like 12098640732602 quality safeties. If he's a legit 6'2" 210 right now I could actually see him as a 6'2" 240 ILB at some point.

His 40 time is definitely legit 4.5. He has run high 4.4/ low 4.5 at numerous camps and combines now. Also here's a blurb about him and his little brother from a combine earlier this year:

Best Of The Midwest Top Performers
6. Drue Tranquill, S, Fort Wayne (In.) Carroll
Like Hines, Tranquill entered the combine completely off the national radar. The 6-foot-1, 202-pound budding two-sport star first blew up in the testing portion ripping off shuttle times of 4.07 and 4.12, and followed it up with a 4.5 forty-yard dash. In coverage, the high school safety flipped his hips fluidly, ran with any wide receiver and got his head around and tracked the ball with finishing ball skills. Tracking the ball and finishing with sure hands looked very natural, but is also not surprising considering he is a talented center fielder that will be a likely MLB draft choice in the spring of 2014. Indiana is showing the most interest early on.

*Another top tester was class of 2015 running back Justin Tranquill (Fort Wayne, In./Carroll). The 5-foot-11, 180-pound brother of 2014 safety Drue Tranquill posted an uber impressive 4.45 in the forty-yard dash, and showed natural hands out of the backfield. Was also a good blocker.

Like the size and speed. let's see how he does at teh camp. If he shows good football skills he might get an offer.

Kid seems to have nearly the same measureables as Nicky Baratti, who everyone raves about.

I think that's why he doesn't have an offer yet. We have a lot of guys on the roster that have the same skillset. May need the schollie somewhere else.

Lets take him, even if only to get his brother. I see him being a smaller Deeb. I bet he would work his butt off.

Per 247 expects Michigan to offer Monday. Coach Elston wants ND to offer and he should know soon.

Probably won't get an offer per II.

I caught just the tail end of a local show where they were talking to some guys from the 7 on 7 team that finished 3rd nationally. They talked to Drue and I thought he mentioned 4 teams that were at the top. I think he said Notre Dame, MSU, Purdue and Cincinnati. Said he would like to decide before the season.

i know we may not be keen on taking low rated guys right now, but i like the kid on film and think he would be a good DOG prospect if we think we can put good weight on em.

however, not sure on the numbers crunch if we're in need of a guy that can only play one spot, but i don't see why he couldn't grow into a MLB type guy either, but this is a very un-informed opinion

I'm kinda meh, I'd love to have him in this class but wouldn't be upset if we don't offer

I feel like any other class we take this kid but safety is the least of our needs right now

Announcing Tuesday, sounds like it will be Purdue. I expect him (and maybe his brother) to be a thorn in our side for years.

Congrats to the young man, I just hope he doesn't become a thorn in our side for the next few years.

Plenty of kids list a school that hasn't offered as a top school they're considering. Jut means they're at the top should they offer.

I understand that, but they haven't offered so he isn't choosing from the 4 he is choosing at best from 2

At the same time, kids should not stretch this. For a pretty extreme example, I could say I will make my final decision soon, here are my choices: Eastern Michigan, Alabama, Notre Dame, and U$C. A couple weeks later I decide to pick Eastern Michigan "over" Alabama, Notre Dame, and U$C.

This kid doesnt fall into that category because it seems all of those schools were somewhat interested in him, but it is also an easy way for kids to gloat on themselves. Good luck to Drue and hopefully he doesnt make us regret losing him too much.

Or at least a chance for ESPN to make some odd claim about a 3:s: rb from florida picking FSU over us :jerkit:
