The Rookie, when Jim Morris (Dennis Quaid) tells his son he's gonna be a major league pitcher and then when he gives his dad the game ball at the end. Also Something for Joey, Act of Valor, and the Lion King when Mufasa dies and then when he comes back and talks to Simba, it's just so powerful!

This is embarrassing, but:

A League of Their Own - The telegram delivery.
Monsters Inc.
ET - Still have not seen the movie start to finish.

Quick tangent...why does Disney either kill someone off or have a character who has experienced family loss? (not always, but A LOT of times its true)

Because it made audiences cry when Sophocles did it 2400 years ago.

Mystic River

When Penn started screaming, "IS THAT MY DAUGHTER?!??!"
I lost my **** and had to turn it off.

Anything with sick, dying, or killed children... too close to home.

Saving Private Ryan is one of the few movies that gets me.

Don't want to make a new thread for this (or maybe I should?) but Corporal Upham may be my least favorite character in any movie. The scene where he just sits on the stairs in cowardice makes me want to punch a wall.

That's the point though, Spielberg has said that scene was meant to be a metaphor for the US's late entry into WWII. (Notice it's a Jewish guy dying.) So Upham is America. Y U HATE AMERICA?

I realize that this is about movies and I don't want to hijack this thread, but I'll well up at just about any portrayal of great sacrifice, bravery, or kindness. It will happen in TV, movies, and commercials.

Off of the top of my head for movies: We Were Soldiers and Tears of the Sun will get me to turn on the waterworks. Rudy and Hoosiers used to, but I think I wore them out.

When I watched the entire first season of Jericho, twice, I was balling my eyes out when Gerald McRaney's character died.

There is one commercial for me that will get me every time, Budweiser's 9/11 tribute commercial, that has played twice I believe. I just watched it again on YouTube and it got me. I would imagine it could get most people to tear up. I forgot the other one. The soldiers returning from deployment and receiving a standing ovation, that is powerful also.

That commercial was amazing. On that note... 9/11 will forever be in our hearts and memories and I must confess this. Before I went to lower Manhattan the events of that day and the tragic loss of lives hurt. But once I was standing there looking where the WTCs' used to stand and visiting the historic church across the street, 9/11 became real to me. If ever there should be a requirement for all American's to see before they pass this should be on the list. God bless the families of those who lost loved ones that day. Thanks for posting Tiny T.

Father of the Bride.

Right at the end where Steve Martin is trying to see his daughter before she leaves and everything conspires against him and he misses her leaving. She then calls him from the airport.

Don't know what it is, but it feels like someone punches me in the throat.

I got choked up this year with the Clydesdale commercial that had "Landslide" playing (hands down the most depressing song ever).

That was me. Sorry. You kept smacking your lips when eating popcorn and I just couldn't take it any more.

The Passion Of The Christ.

This is the only one that makes me cry. I'm not much of a crier. My wife thinks I have problems...and she is right. But this thread isn't about the bullying that lead to my psychological issues. We can make another one for that.

I get a little misty-eyed at the end of Major League, partly because a championship is something I've never seen before and partly because a championship is something I may never see in the future.
