Glen Beck says it is all going down in the next 24 hours...

Tearfully, his media empire is crumbling leaving rational people left with nowhere to turn for objective and well supported "truth."

I don't know really. It would be a shame for nothing to occur after that amazing "get to your bombshelters" announcement. I am actually on tenterhooks.

I love when the political threads start, you can really see some ignorance shine through. Don't get me wrong though, Glenn Beck went off the deep end a long time ago.

False. I am pretty sure there is outrage from both sides of the isle LOL. And many people are outraged AT both sides of the aisle as each of the "scandals" were initiated by republicans and democrats and doubled down on by democrats and republicans.

If you are choosing sides at this point, I don't think you truly realize what is going on.

Anyway Beck is a turd and should be flushed.

Wow, you don't sound very outraged! You seem to have a pretty healthy and balanced perspective on all of it: all of the supposed scandals, if there were any, were the creation of both parties and they deserve equal blame. That takes care of that! :)

Yes sadly I do. If someone knows of objective news outlets that are not owned and controlled by megacorps I would appreciate. It's tiresome cobbling together bits and pieces from the individuals who actually do journalism.

It's unfortunate that libertarians, who have legitimate concerns and ideas, have to have Glen Beck be their most prominent figure in media.

It's doubly unfortunate that my sister, an intelligent woman in her own right, is a huge Beck listener and will make outlandish comments like "well, everything he said did turn out to be true!" WUT. DA. FUQ.

She went so far as to defend Mormonism (we're Catholic) and point out how they "did find Hebrew artifacts buried around here in Native American burial sites!" because of this:

History is filled with a litany of extremely charismatic preachers and politicians who twist reality and get droves of simpletons to follow them. Glen Beck is just one of those.

I get my news from the BBC and The Economist, and my analysis from The American Conservative.

Yes, these are the best. The British Broadcasting Corporation and a British newspaper (I think of the Economist as a magazine but if you read it you find that it refers to itself as a newspaper, which I always find quaint and funny). How sad is it that we have to go outside the U.S. for fair news-reporting?

Exactly. Most domestic sources are too corporate and partisan to be reliable.

Only on IE.

You jest, but the analysis in that thread is better than most Americans get from cable news.

LOL. I agree.

And I get my stuff from the same sources as you.

Cable news is awful. Fox is lame, manufactured, and clearly catering towards conservatives. CNN is the most politically-correct, establishment BS I could possibly imagine. MSNBC is an echo chamber for self-congratulating liberals.

I actually like Drudge as well. His headlines are obviosly sensational, but he links to the original sources whether they are liberal, conservative, foreign, etc. Drudge is probably the reason I stopped trusting the mainstream American sources: you get to see what is not being reported and get a good feel for why its not.

Just looked at Beck's Facebook page. He is getting crucified by his followers. It's pretty funny.

So, is the power structure down? Have things been laid barren? Are we starting from ground zero?

good thing we have the Continental Congress thread to begin anew

Haha. I need to re-evaluate my approach to that thread. There looked to be a lot of common ground and good ideas cropping up against once seemingly disparate adversaries.

Hey, who you calling "disparate" smart guy? But seriously, Cack, what's with Continental thread? Give it a bump, we'll get back to solving the problems of the nation.

It's a lot like a real congress, we talked for a few days, didn't accomplish much, then took a long hiatus.

Is it safe to come out? How many survivors? I'll bet my gold (that he urged me to buy) has quadrupled in value ...
