I can not see for the life of me the hype around Man of Steel... just not my thing i guess... and to each their own.

what is my thing is zombie flicks... so I'm looking forward to World War Z... though the obvious CGI'gasim that film has with the zombies is a slight turnoff... and whats with the horde kind of thing??? Is that kosher with the books??

Man of steel looks incredible but I can see why some would be turned off by it, and World War Z does look pretty good but you can tell its so far off from the book it may push people away. Im not a huge zombie fan but I read the book and it was a borderline masterpiece.

Sorry dude, just didn't like it...what is it you did on that film?

not anything of major consequence. i did worked in the craft service dept.
i took no offense to your comment BTW, just breaking your balls.

i do take offense to you think WWZ looks good. ouch. i guess im over zombie movies. and i think the shots of the "hordes" look awful. they look like ants, and too me, that is too much communication and planning for thoughtless creatures. it looks like chaos, but its too organized.

^this is obviously just breaking balls too!

Ok let me explain my reasoning behind wanting to see WWZ. I read the book and i wouldn't really call myself a zombie fan but anyways i gave it a shot and it really is one of the more well thought out books i have read in years. Now to the movie looks nothing like the book itself but a little part of me is hoping it doesn't suck, some movies you know are not going to meet your expectations yet i know ill be in attendance the very first weekend it comes out

I really want to see The Purge. I have heard that it is a let down but the concept is intriguing to me. I do not analyze movies like most people. When I over analyze and get technical with things, it ruins the fun.

Work for a film exhibitor and FINALLY saw Star Trek into Darkness tonight. Listened to a JJ Abrams interview indicating he was a Star Wars fan growing up, and did not know much about the Star Trek mythology.

What an amazing job of storytelling while paying homage to the original films. Being a Star Wars fan, I am beyond thrilled to see what he can do to a fractured franchise. Must see if you have any affinity to the sci-fi genre.

We are the exact opposite. I am so excited for Man of Steel. It looks incredible! I already bought my tickets to see it in 3D IMAX at midnight. I'm a big comic book fan, big DC guy, and this could be the beginning of the JLA.

On the other hand I am completely meh about World War Z. Mostly because I'm terribly sick of zombies, they just are not that interesting to me. But also because of all the apparent problems they had in post. Any story that needs a significant amount of pick ups to rework the story is in for trouble.

Saw Epic with the family tonight. They loved it. I got an $11.00 power nap. Thought it was okay but definitely for the kids, which is a good thing.

LOL. Pick ups are shoots they do after principal photography is over. So say they shot WWZ in the fall of 2011, then they take it to post in early 2012 (i.e. all the cgi, lots of the noises and sounds, and cutting the movie) During this phase lots of directors discover that they are missing a few shots, or an angle of a particular scene. So they gather the necessary cast together and do small reshoots. Well from what i have heard they where doing major reshoots in post. Basically insinuating the studio took a look at what was done and did not like how the movie was shaping up. This is typically a bad sign for any movie.

I saw bot Star Trek Into Darkness and The Purge recently.

I'm not a huge Star Wars or Star Trek kinda guy but I did like this movie.

The Purge, it seems like people loved it or hated it. Personally, I loved it and thought it was great. 95% of the movie was pretty predictable but the end definitely had a twist. I loved it because I think it gives everyone something to think about. Unemployment at 1%, super low crime rate, and other great things- would a 12 hour period where every crime is legal be worth it? That's worth a discussion.

I did hear they had do re shoot the final act... Still getting good reviews from what I have seen... Either way I tend to like zombie flicks,... Only re hash story films I enjoy. Superman??... Could not be left flatter...

The Purge is probably one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I thought the concept was awesome, hence the reason I went to see it. But the movie as a whole was a huge disappointment. I leaned over to my wife and told her how the whole movie would go after about 15 minutes of watching the movie.

Movies that are predictable are not exciting to me unless they are based on actual events.

Last night i saw The Place Beyond The Pines. I thought it was fantastic. The movie had a an exceptional cast, that all gave strong performances. This might be the best acting performance of Bradley Coopers career. I don't want to go to much into detail but the third act is centered around two young actors, both of which hold up to the level of acting put on by the stars earlier in the film.

This movie has a fresh unique way of presenting a story. Trying to make a linear story that shifts the focus from one main character to the next is a hard thing to do. This film definitely pulled it off. I felt emotionally connected to every character. This movie is the type of movie that wins alot of awards at the end of the year, that people will complain about because it didn't make tons of money, or have blockbuster success. But in the case of this movie I think it is deserving of every award it wins.

I think it would be cool if we all started rating the movies at the end of our posts. Such as...... I would give The Place Beyond The Pines a 9/10

I saw Great Gatsby last week, it was pretty good. I really liked the way it was shot, kind of weird with some of the modern music playing though.

Saw it today. Liked it a lot.

The closer you look the less you see.

T'was true.

High energy, continuous action.

Non stop misdirection. Not the director, the plot.

The First Rule of Magic: Always be the smartest person in the room.

My wife and I both guessed the connection early in the movie but we both guessed the wrong party.

Saw 2 movies at the midnight premieres this month.

1st one was The Purge. I'll be short and sweet. Save your money.

2nd one was World War Z. I thought this was an excellent movie, I normally don't like Brad Pitt but I thought he was really good in this movie. It was definitely a new breed of "zombie" movie.

Did you watch either movie at Yorktown? Used to run that theatre!

Z didn't blow my mind, thought the ending was pretty anti-climactic. Read they completely reshot the last 40 minutes of the film.

Watched this last week. Costumes were great and Hanks' acting is always excellent but the story was just meh. I fell asleep at one point as it is wayyyyy too long.
