Lets assume Cornwell goes to Alabama:

2014: David Cornwell high 4:s: on Rivals
2013: Cooper Bateman high 4:s: on Rivals
2012: Blake Sims 4:s: on Rivals
2011: AJ McCarrron high 4:s: on Rivals

Are u gonna tell Nick Saban he's recruiting wrong?

Blake Sims was a 2010 recruit. Phillip Ely was the 2011 recruit and he was a 3* for Alabama. McCarron wasn't 2011 as well, he was 2009. I am confused.

I am confused as well haha

Rivals roster must have not taken into account redshirts/not been updated? I picked a Jr, So, Fr, and then Cornwell

It looks like a may have accidentally provided evidence for drake's point, but I still disagree

No way Kelly would go on with less than 3 scholarship QBs on the roster. He played 5 that one year due to injuries.

I don't understand what you're disagreeing with. I say we need a qb. I said if we don't land a top guy, I'm not going to get bent out of shape. This is based on the high likelihoods of ND landing Beneventi in 2015. There are only a few elite level QBs in this class - ND doesn't lead for any of them. I'm not worried about it because I trust BK and company enough to land a solid kid that will be on the roster for 4+ years and be able to come in and play down the line. We have Golson for 2 years and Zaire for 4 years once the 2014 QB hits campus.

Visiting June 20th per Rivals

That is surprising, didn't think we would have see his name connected with ND again after the day he was offered

I didn't either but this may be a good way to get some pressure on Kizer and/or Park. I want both those guys ahead of Cornwell because I think they are better fits for the offense currently. After I said that I re-watched some if his tape and I still feel that way but damn he's got a big arm.

Cornwell is 6'5", 230 pounds, moves well in the pocket, can throw on the run, and can straight sling it...I'm not sure there's a system that's bad for him.

I'm not surprised by the visit at all.

Doesn't he have some high school eligibility issues? Not sure of the exact situation, but if so, I have to believe it will be hard for him to come to ND.

Regarding the eligibility issue, found the following article from 2 days ago:

No decision made on Cornwell eligibility - On The Trail Blog - ESPN

OKLAHOMA CITY -- No decision was made regarding the eligibility of Norman (Okla.) North quarterback David Cornwell by the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association on Tuesday afternoon.

A motion was unanimously approved by the OSSAA’s board of directors that a special board meeting will be June 12 at 1:30 p.m. if the matter is not resolved by that time.

Cornwell, who is the No. 1-ranked pocket-passing quarterback and No. 24 in the ESPN 150, was hoping to hear an announcement Tuesday regarding whether or not he will be eligible for his senior season at Norman North.

Cornwell is classified as a senior but will be in his fifth year removed from eighth grade in the fall. It is against the OSSAA rules to have a fifth year of eligibility except for extreme cases. The Cornwell family believes it has one of those cases.

Cornwell, his parents and attorneys addressed the OSSAA board at 10 a.m., and the family requested the issue be dealt with in executive session. Fifteen minutes later, the executive session was over, and the board ruled to table the issue.

The Cornwell family brought new information to the case Tuesday, and the board felt it didn’t have enough time to read the information and make a judgment in the ruling.

Following that, attorneys for both the Cornwells and the OSSAA, as well as OSSAA representative David Jackson and the Cornwell family, met in a separate meeting for more than an hour.

After the board reconvened, it was announced that if it is deemed necessary, the June 12 special board meeting would take place.

Cornwell attorney Mitch D. McCuistian said all questions regarding the matter will be answered at a different time and declined to comment Tuesday afternoon.

Cornwell said he still feels confident they have met the criteria for an extra year of eligibility.

“I can't comment, other than to say that I believe we meet the criteria and I expect a positive decision on my eligibility soon,” Cornwell said.

The issue at hand is the 2011-12 school year when the family lived in Florida. Cornwell intended to be homeschooled by his mother. Cornwell did not attend school or play football as his mother, Debbie, battled a debilitating health condition.

Cornwell moved to Jones (Okla.) High for the 2012 season. He threw for 2,742 yards with 27 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Following the season, the family moved from Jones to Norman, Okla., and Cornwell has enrolled at Norman North.

Cornwell has earned an invite to the Elite 11 quarterback finals next month as well as a spot in The Opening, an all-star showcase of the best recruits in the nation.

Cornwell visited Alabama last weekend and has planned trips to Oklahoma State, Tennessee and Virginia Tech in the next couple of weeks where he hopes he will be ready to make his decision.

Yea, I have read that it might be hard for him to go to Alabama and thats been the hold up on his commitment. So if its hard for Bama its gonna real tough for ND.

To your comment Beau, he is a stud but sometimes we all get our minds made up about specific kids and I really like Kizer.

Speaks to his character that he would stay home to help take care of his sick mother, and hope all is well now, but I wonder if he will have the transcripts to get into ND with that being the case.

I don't think it's anything which would prohibit him from getting into school. IIRC this is technically his 5th year in HS because he took sometime off because his mom was sick. He would need a waiver to play is my understanding but his academics are fine.

Edit: Yep that's what I read

Ah ok I misunderstood. If that is the case, that what are the reported problems getting into Bama, I wonder?

Either way, extremely nice to miss out on Allen and get pretty much the next best 3 QBs on the board to visit that month.

he doesn't have issues getting into BAMA...the issue was bama wanted more than 1 years worth of tape and that's all he has...they wanted him to throw in front of them also but they stated they just wanted to see more tape on his development throughout the season...don't remember where, but i read it

Makes sense.

If there are no issues with him then eligibility wise, I am really excited about this. ND's is getting their top 3 remaining QB prospects up to ND to see in person this month. This is huge.

I'll go back and try and find the article but on rivals or 247, I read that until his situation is worked out he's going to have a hard time getting into any school including Bama. He's been expected to commit for awhile now.

wherever i read this article it stated something liket saban has strict rules when it comes to offering qb's...they need 2+ years of tape and they have to throw in front of coaches to be able to get a committable offer

Saban usually requires two years of tape and will probably stick to it with Cornwell even though he is highly rated. As most probably know, Saban doesn't rank recruits by the number of stars they have but rather a very mythotical process he used while under Bill Belicheck. That's the reason he requires the film.

And this is Cornwell's only problem with Bama?

Not able to find the articles that I was referring to but I may have misread something along the way.
-The below article doesn't say anything about academics but it does say that he recently threw in front of Saban.

Quarterback Recruiting Dominoes Begin To Fall In 2014

And in a Bamaonline 247 article, again no mention that schools care about academics but all coaches are worried about his development if he were to sit an entire year.

I stand corrected.

Don't know. I do think if Bama makes an official offer then Cornwell would seriously consider accepting. I think he is waiting on Saban at this point. How long he would wait is anybody's guess.

I didn't read that he stayed home to care for his mother in the article you posted but rather he was to be home schooled but his mother had a debilating health condition. I may have misread the article but it seems like two different things. Here's the highlighted portion of the article.

The issue at hand is the 2011-12 school year when the family lived in Florida. Cornwell intended to be homeschooled by his mother. Cornwell did not attend school or play football as his mother, Debbie, battled a debilitating health condition.

He may have been a caregiver but I didn't see it there. It sounded more to me that the home school teacher, his mother, was not available.

Not just methodical. If you can't prove at least semi-divine parentage, Saban isn't interested.
