with diaco possibly leaving for a head coaching position if he continues to lead our defense to the success we've had the past few years, I think it is possible to bring in a guy that could change to a 4-3. not that I would welcome it, but it is a possibility.

unless BK feels comfortable handing the reigns over to Cooks/Elliot if that situation arises.

While I understand the thought process, they aren't going to start recruiting right now for a switch that hasn't happened.

So what you're suggesting is that he could take over the MLB spot that Vanderdoes could have played?

Vandercant was going to play running back for us...

Ahh my bad, you got here this month, you might not think this is as funny as someone who was following the whole Vandercant recruitment...

Article up on BGI about him, didn't realize we were his 6th offer. Sounds like he has a good relationship with Booker

Just to add fuel to the CAT LB or 3-4 DE debate, Loy says we're recruiting him at DE.

I don't think he knows what he's talking about. He said 250 pounds was "perfect" for him to play as a true freshman DE at Notre Dame. I've seen other ND analysts say he's a CAT including TJ34

Loy has been saying some questionable things lately regarding ND. Don't know what to make of it.

I don't care what position this young man plays, the bottom line is, we want him on that wall, and we need him on that wall.

He's at the top of my list for 2013.

I'll second this. From what I've gathered from him is he hasn't taken the time yet to figure out whats going on inside the Gug where that type of decision would be made. Also we don't have one DE on the roster that weighs less than 280.

Wasn't Aaron Lynch like 270 as a freshman? And he looked skinny as **** in the 3-4 out there. No way 250 is perfect for a 3-4 DE.

Just was looking at the Pittsburgh Steelers defensive roster and their smallest DE is 285 lbs and that's Brett Keisel. The Ravens smallest guy at DE is 280. Redskins smallest is 270 (Daryl Tapp).

A quick look at some of the NFL's 3-4 defense and those end's are not small so 250 is not good enough IMO.

Barkevious Mingo played as 3-4 DE with 240 pounds, Lemonier in his Fr. year weighed 235 lbs and he looked nice. Justin Houston played as a OLB with 270 pounds. I would not worry about his weight. I rather more a 240-250 lbs tough, violent player like Shembo than a 275 lbs soft player.

LSU runs a 4-3

As we learned with the Kyle Allen situation nothing is ever set in stone but Carter apparently changed his plans from flying to Chicago, at Rivals expense, to driving from GA so he could visit. I think ND has advised all prospects that they cannot have Rivals pay for their transportation and visit ND

That is really good news, hope all the team is there to show him a good time and let him see how well he could fit in. Been saying this young man seems like a great fit with the guys on our team.

Good or bad things?

Not Ironman but from my perspective bad. In the sense that he doesn't seem connected to what the staff is thinking, wanting, or looking for. Sapp clearly had some relationships with people on the staff that trusted him enough to tell him things and he would put it out there for us to read without divulging too much. Loy seems to be reaching with some of his info. Can't really fault him because he's pulling double duty but its still lacking what Sapp brought and may never have that.

I pretty much agree with this.

This kid is the truth! He is my current top want in the class. Happy to hear he's visiting! The thing that stands out about this visit is his teammate Kevin Mauhon is coming with him. If they visit we have a chance here. Maybe Elijah will show him how to roll toilet because Bama seems to be the team to beat here. Not going to get my hopes up to high, but if we can nab this gem it would make the class elite!

Interesting interview with Carter below. When asked what he liked about Alabama, he mentions Coach Smart's use of the "Jack" linebacker position and states that he loves that position, which is what we call the "Cat" LB. If Loy is right (he's not) about us recruiting him as a DE, we don't have a chance.

FWIW (likely not much), our CAT LB depth will be more appealing to Carter than Alabama's JACK LB depth in 2014.

Agreed, in theory it should. The visit will be huge.

If, somehow, we land him, just imagine him at the CAT and Jaylon at DOG if we stick with the 3-4. Wow.
