I'm going to refrain from going full meltdown until we know for sure that this is an irreparable situation, but good God, man! Seriously?!

My concern is this becoming a yearly event, (which it has been for the past 3 years) and future studs start to write off ND early in the recruiting cycle.
"Well for some reason those other guys didn't go/stay at ND, there must be a reason why, so I'm going to pass on them."

scary thing is regardless of this current situation works out well for us, these types of scenarios usually don't end well for us (i.e. kiel, lynch, and shepard)

They don't usually end well for any team ergo the phrase where there's smoke there's fire.

Hate to be that guy but until like the last 2 days before NSD no one expected EV to be in this class, just want to point that out to everyone

Some of you are acting like ND is the only place this sh1t happens at. Lynch was a heck of a talent but lived in his own little world. Tee Sheppard had way to many issues, Kiel did his own thing. **** happens everywhere, I would rather have ND take these risks than not take these risks.

According to someone on 247 "It's one class. They are just waiting for it to be cleared up." They are also confident it can be resolved

I will admit i'm perhaps the biggest over-reactor on this board. I apologize to those I offend, but usually hit the panic button almost immediately

I love that they are taking the risks, I just wish there was some way for them to back themselves up because when something falls through we get fvcked in the ***. SEC can sign 4 DL and when one drops its "oh well."

Yep. We cant afford for our prize DL in a class to just all of a sudden back out. Really hope we can get this resolved.

These go together, Lou Somogyi is the editor of B&G. I was pointing out that I wasn't a random poster

Hope this all gets resolved soon and he's at ND in June. I thought he was a monster pickup that sent this class from great to elite. Trying not to overreact, but losing him would be a critical blow, IMO. Our DL depth is going to take a big hit after this season when likely Big Lou and Tuitt go. I fully expected (and still do, if this situation is resolved) for Eddie to start in 2014. He's going to be a beast.

So BK talking to the Eagles lessened his ability to get questionable qualifiers in to ND?

And what's that have to do with this if EV is the one that may be shaky?

Just asking. Trying to smell what your cooking.

All I'm saying is that Kelly got some serious latitude with elite recruits before... and I've heard from a couple people that flirting with the NFL really pissed of some ND admins. Because in their mind, "how dare he" because we should be the top of the food chain. Never mind that we're paying roughly 1/3 what the Eagles job is paying Chip Kelly and BK turned down the job to stay at ND... It definitely ruffled some feathers.

How does this relate to EV? Well, IF there is an academic issue on EV's end then the admin is far less likely to give a pass whereas before they were pretty amenable to making exceptions.

With that being said, everything I heard was that it was EV having reservations NOT ND having issues with anything academic so it's all a moot point if that is the case.

Purely my opinion, but EV and his supporting cast don't seem like the type of people who are interested in sitting out a year. My money is on him being in camp and playing for ND this year, assuming he is able to.

I wanted Kelly hired the day Weis was canned, and that wasn't very popular around here. My fondness of Kelly, irrespective of his on field performance, was tarnished when this whole NFL business went down. I thought he was THE guy, would take ND back and keep it there. And now it wouldn't surprise me to see him leave tomorrow, and that sucks.

Has nothing to do with Kelly and the NFL.

But does it have to do with academics, as reported? Really can't uncouple the two... you know as well as I do that Kelly ruffled a lot of feathers in the admin with his flirtation.

Best Case Scenario 2014:

Tuitt/ Day/ Vanderdoes
Rochell/ Springmann/ Utupo
{Hayes/ Trumbetti/ Matuska/ Clark or Frazier/ Jones}.

Worst Case Scenario 2014:

Rochell/ Day/ Utupo
Hayes/ Springmann/ Trumbetti
{ Matuska, Jones, 3rd 2014 recruit, walk-on}.

If Isaac Rochell becomes a solid stud, this scenario is survivable, but it's hard to like the seeming difference.

Also if Kelly/Diaco pull two REAL GOOD added DLine to go with Hayes and Trumbetti, we could start, say, Khairi Clark in the middle --- young but not a bad looking group then.
