You are correct. Since I assume you are talking about MA, the thing we have to remember is there is a big difference between state and federal.

Although not enacted, these two federal bills were proposed by republicans with numerous co-sponsors in 1993-1994. They included numerous things that the MA bill and the AHA include. Numerous....

Health Equity and Access Reform Today Act of 1993
Bill Summary & Status - 103rd Congress (1993 - 1994) - S.1770 - THOMAS (Library of Congress)

Consumer Choice Health Security Act of 1994
Bill Summary & Status - 103rd Congress (1993 - 1994) - H.R.4550 - THOMAS (Library of Congress)

And I love the names of each bill. Marketing at its finest.

Exactly. I have no problem with states coming up with their own way.

But the article is right. It sheds light on the fact that those that do take better care of themselves, tend to identify with a political party that claims hardwork and success.

Is that so hard to admit? It doesn't mean that it's 100% accurate...but it's not a suprise at all.

Some of you are suprised and take offense to this, yet when upwards of 95% of blacks voted for Obama, it was no big deal.

People vote for who they identify with (or who they believe they do).

Read the bills...Not the same thing as the ACA...

Meh...Kennedy wanted to invade China, and then was ready to nuke them. Doesn't mean that Democrats are the "party of war". And it doesn't Democrats can't object to future invasions. Things change Mox.

Not sure how Obamacare got into this thread but I figured I post this graphic I found. Reality wise most of the issues in Obamcare are actually pretty popular even the program as a whole polls at <50%. The thing is that people don't what is actually in Obamacare.

It is really just the individual mandate that people can't stand.

Those are incredibly misleading.

I liken it to house hunting. If I show you a house that fits exactly what you want from a size perspective, great community, fully updated, you will love it. But then you ask me the price and it's not what you wanted. Overall, I can ask you did you like the bedroom? Did you like the yard? You may really like those individually, but if you are not willing to pay the price, what's the point? In this case, the mandate is the price and people don't like it.

Kennedy wanted to invade Cuba(Soviet missile installations), and General Curtis LeMay wanted to nuke them! During the Korean War, there was talk of invading China and deploying our nuclear arsenal(MacArthur, for one). Truman, recognized the folly, and sent MacArthur home to a New York ticker tape parade, and the rest is history.

Not sure if we're disagreeing...but I was referring in part to his positions when he was a Senator. It's possible to want to invade more than one country over time.

For reals...

Everybody like the benefits of Obamacare -- it's the costs they hate. That's a far cry from dismissing them as simply "not understanding" the law. (Although even today nobody fully understands how it will take affect.)

Then theres this, Operation Northwoods - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . No wonder kennedy approved bay of pigs, look at his given alternatives, also heard about plans to nuke the moon as a show of force, dunno if thats true

Seriously. I guess the only indication of one's work ethic is how much he can lift. Never mind people who have worked for years for master's degrees or doctorates. That's not hard work...and they only vote for democrats because they've been indoctrinated by the communist system of higher education.

Again, hilarious.

Obamacare was actually a "corn-brained conservative idea"

indeed it WAS...

I'd say we evolved leaving bad ideas where they belong

...If you pick up my abandoned patent, and get it approved, isn't it yours.

They didn't really abandon it. It was still a republican idea, which is why Obama included it in the plan. It was an attempt to garner bipartisan support. Once he talked about it, as McConnell would have wanted, they turned on it.

EDIT:
Also, I found it amusing how they reacted to the mandate. It's not that they just decided it was a bad idea. It was an indication that Obama was Stalin-like.

I missed where conservatives put forth a 2500 page piece of corn brained filth and forced it on the Amercian people while exempting themselves from it... all while openly acknowledging to not even have read the damn thing... I love how a few components or pages taken from some piece of legislation 20 yeas ago makes it a conservative idea.. it is flat out lying to state so... But par for the course...

Not to mention it was spun to us as being "cheaper" from the start and that it would save us money....

I don't think people are saying that the entire plan was a conservative idea. But the individual mandate was. Doesn't mean you have to like the idea. But it was the Heritage Foundation. But, I guess I'm just a liar?

I think that is EXACTLY what is being sold.... If it was presented as just one or two thing then there would be little issue... What is and has been said is Obamacare is really a conservative plan from the Clinton era...

Neither of you get it.

I didn't say it was the ONLY. I said that it's not suprising that people that take care of themselves physically, tend to think along the lines of a party that claims they're all about hardwork and success.

School. Reallly? If that is your idea of "hard work" then you are really detactched from the real world. Yes, it takes work to get through school, I don't discredit that....but that's nothing compared to the real world. Come on. I wish college was as hard as life was gonna get. Gimmie a break.

There are plenty of over educated lazy asses out there. And those that go back to school becuase they can't find work.
