Agree with this. But I guess the thing was Theo was more mature and ready to play right away, when we had a dire need for playmakers. Coaches at ND must coach for the present sometimes, without regard for the future (BK has even done it, with pulling Kona's RS for basically one game)

Yep, same with Okwara playing this year. You gotta play the guys you need to win games. You can't sell out that year's seniors, the rest of the players, and all the fans because you want to preserve a 5th year. A 5th year is a luxury. I agree that while it's great to blame Weis for stuff, BK has this attitude too.

Its a luxury that may never come to fruition...

I really think someone should have stepped in there and gave the college kid some time to heal.

Seriously, that video made me kind of angry. I know the reporters are just trying to do their job, but let the kid pull himself together.

Poor guy. I imagine all the players must feel that way to some extent ... so much work, only to be dominated almost from the opening kickoff. Awful.

But Theo has nothing to be ashamed of. Great season and great career. We'll miss you, bro.

damn.

really love that kid.

my heart just breaks for him and the whole team really.

they are the ones who live it breathe it work it run it catch it lift it put everything into it...all for ND. all for their ND Family. past and present. love all these kids.

on a postive note: he will indeed get his NFL shot. projected to go on avg in the 5th round by most of the pundits.

this wont be the last we see of Theo in a football uniform. He will do us all proud in the future as he has always done in the past.

Theo put it all on the line, made so many crucial plays, and was as unselfish as a player can be ALL year. If I had one favorite, it is him. He has that consummate underdog work ethic mentality. Much appreciation for all your hard work and dedication, T. Riddick. You now have that legendary status of being the foundation of something greater being built at Notre Dame, something we no longer have to imagine. You made it real for all of us. Thanks, man.

I am not sorry they didn't turn the video off; and I am not sorry I saw it. Yes, it was incredibly hard to watch. But that is the character he has, and now he has grown more. It is apparent. I may try to send him a note acknowleging his high character, and his love for friends, ND, and fans. HE IS THE MAN!

Theo was never my favorite play but he was still a good player for this team. I wish they would have used that match up some more but its over now.

Thank you Theo for all your hard work. That video right there was really. I hope that you have a very successful career.

Looks like he'll be playing for the Lions. The announcers had some nice things to say about him and said that.they were surprised he lasted so long. I agree, I think he has some nice "all around" skills and could do alright for himself.

Nice. I think he makes the team... Bernard Pierce is a really good one-cut back, Ray Rice is your do it all, and Riddick would be a great 3rd down backup to have because Pierce can't fill that role if Rice were to get hurt.

Bernard Pierce and Ray Rice are on the Ravens, Theo is on the Lions.

****, I was thinking the same thing. Felt like just yesterday we were at the stadium for the Bush Push. It's bad when Reggie is considered an NFL veteran with less years ahead of him than behind him...and you realize you're a few years older than him

I am surprised, anyone see him in college eight years ago? I mean other than at the training facility, and the Coliseum. From what some say he never went to college, lol!

Seriously, looking at Theo, and the Lions, the opportunity seems good and situation seems to be right. He could do very well for the Lions, and the Lions could do well for him!

Haven't seen this posted yet. There has been a lot of positive articles about Riddick in Detroit newspapers so far this season.

Allen Park -- It's easy to overlook rookie running back Theo Riddick. He plays in a position group behind Reggie Bush, Joique Bell and Mikel Leshoure.

Lately, though, the team's sixth-round pick from Notre Dame has been hard to miss.

"Riddick has stepped up and done some nice things," Schwartz said, "particularly in the passing game."

Bush has also been impressed, saying Riddick interior running skills are well ahead of where he was as a rookie.

None of this was evident during OTAs, when Riddick was, like most rookies, struggling to find his way.

"I was just trying to learn everything on the fly, trying not to mess up, trying to make a great impression," he said. "You end up doing a lot more thinking than just playing."

Riddick put the six-week break between OTAs and mini-camp to good use.

"Having that time off to study the plays really helped," he said. "I like to get acclimated with the playbook more and know my craft as opposed to just thinking out there and playing a lot slower."

The Lions drafted Riddick to be an understudy to Bush. He has a similar, though still undeveloped skill set. But speedy undrafted rookie Steven Miller has impressed, as well. Unlike Riddick, Miller is also in the mix in the return game.

The exhibition season will settle that debate.

I didn't get a chance to see the game last night. Anybody see how he did?

meh - dropped first pass, easy slant. Second pass, was a screen that was slightly overthrown. but still catchable. Ran a few times, but Lions line is pretty poor so not many yards. Was better on pass blocking than anything.

The undrafted rookie looked better -- more speed.

I think this one will go down to the end of training camp.
