So, now that McCaffrey has committed to Stanford and Starks doesn't look like a good possibility, will the staff keep pushing to add a Folston-type RB in this class? None of the other names on the list seem particularly interested in ND.

Not sure. My personal opinion is with Bryant/Folston last year and Hood this year we don't need another RB in this class. I think that the recruiting of Starks was because he was extremely talented and had a high interest in ND that we didn't want to pass up. So if I was to venture a guess I would say only very highly touted guys will be recruited at this point.

I think the staff wants either a All Purpose Back or a Slot Reciever in this class

Some names:

McCaffery
Starks
Derrell Scott
Artavis Scott
Johnnie Dixon
Noil
Thompkins
Mixon

More will probably pop up

I thought so as well until it became clear that we're looking to carry 6 TEs on the roster. Something has to make way for those guys, and I'm guessing it'll be the small shifty Z WRs.

They'll still presumably recruit Riddick-like RBs, but some of the guys you listed there probably can't hack it at RB and are lower on the board as outside WRs.

I hate that Starks is probably off the board now. As said above, versatile guy who could play RB, Slot or another WR spot, DB, etc.. Thinking my favorite alts are Mixon and D Scott. Brandt-Sims is an interesting one. Fast and Quick LOL. With his GPA, stats, and measureables, surprised we have not offered.

Johnnie Dixon and Artavis Scott are priorities for this class from what I have read on Rivals and 247. Dixon is the #1 FL WR on NDs board (ahead of Holmes then)

This is why I like Quick. Great outside receiver prospect who could also be great lined up in the slot. It seems like we're not going to recruit true Z receivers any more, but that doesn't mean the only guys lining up in the slot will be RB/Z hybrids or TE/Z hybrids ... why not some outside/inside receiver hybrids, Golden Tate style ... shiftiness to play inside, ball skills to play outside.

247 has mentioned that Alford has invested a lot of time in these two. I would assume if he's investing that much time its because we envision a spot in the offense for them. With that said I agree Emcee Quick would be a great get as he can line up a lot of different places.

Gerry Hamilton changed his prediction on Nick Watkins this morning to Notre Dame. Interesting.

I do have to laugh at all the Texas guys and their predictions. "He left ND 4 days ago and didn't commit to them. HE MUST BE OURS THEN!!" The change by Hamilton is far more meaningful to me than the rest.

Biggest problem with the Crystal Ball is the blind homerism. That's why I only look at the national/regional guys predictions.

Gerry Hamilton changed his prediction on Nick Watkins this morning to Notre Dame. Interesting.

Notre Dame does seem to fit his criteria for a school quite well.....:

“I want to go to a school with a great coaching staff,” said Watkins. “Actually education is first and I want a school that has a great business school. I want a school that I can come in and compete, and that I would have a fair chance to get on the field early. Then I want a great all around environment where I can fit in and have a great time going to college.

“I can play in any defense so where I go that will depend on what my coach wants me to do, and how you can be all things inside those parameters. Style of defense doesn’t really matter to me, because I know I can play corner in any defense.”

FYI LSU landed the #1 JUCO player D'haquille Williams, a Wide Reciever. Kid is apparently amazing but has major off field issues.

Doubt LSU can take him, Noil, Quinn, Dupre, Blacknall and Upchurch (committed already). But I don't follow LSU recruiting that much.

I know we jest about SEC making room for whatever they want, but there is just no way they can take them all.

Only 6??? A&m took 9 last year so it could happen. Ok maybe not 9 but at least 6. Although you would think that WR would desire to actually have a shot to play at some point. Can't truly imagine them getting them all myself but you just never know when it comes to the SEC.
