Please don't make me post this link again. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem

Um, I didn't make the arguement personal, so I don't think that it is ad hominem. I was pointing out the Republican Party and his attempts to label conservatives. It was nothing against Pat (who while crazy, reminds me of the crazy uncle that you introduce proudly to everyone, not the one you hide your friends from).

Just because people have different preferences than you doesn't make them "morons". Or "gullible". They just want something different than you.

I agree with that, but the positions the GOP is finding itself in aren't so much "different" as they are nonsensical and often hypocritical. From both sides, it's flip-flopping to get 51% of the votes, and the GOP has made some very bad moves lately, and it's shown.

I expect the GOP to be the voice of reason to the Democrats idealism, and that simply hasn't been the case. From my view, they're riling up the crowd against a false enemy.

If Beck REALLY had important information that had national security implications, why would he withhold it until Monday? Forget his track record, this is clearly a crass attempt to get ratings. I would say that about anybody, liberal or conservative, who tried to pull a stunt like this.

But let's not forget Beck's track record. He's a sensationalist whose made his name, and fortune, on big claims, not a careful analysis of facts.

Maybe, but without Beck we would not have the beauty that is Jon Stewarts imitations

I agree. Seldom do I disagree with someone so consistently, yet find them weirdly likable.

Dude, you said the Republican party "lost their damn mind" and thereafter cited a bunch of *individuals* as evidence of such. Not the party platform. Not arguments. Not policies. Individuals. That's a classic ad hominem fallacy to discredit the Republican party.

It's perfectly ok to prefer differently from what the Republican Party advances. There's no right answer there. It just doesn't make sense to discredit the party based on the intelligence of a few select people who happen to believe in it.

I respect many conservatives. Glenn Beck is a lunatic. He became a caricature of himself many years ago. Too extreme for FOX is off the charts.

I'm very tolerant of his right to talk. I'm also very cognizant that he rarely has anything meaningful to say.

And I don't listen to Glenn Beck... A little too emotional for me and is a little too religious. Makes some good points from time to time.

Andrew Wilkow is my style. Brightest political mind on the air

Beck is fading fast. Ever since he was fired by Fox News, he has been struggling to get an audience for his sensational and alarmist claims. And as long as he can keep people talking about him, he remains in the news. Stop talking about him and he loses his forum. Beck is just another Joe McCarthy. Fortunately, he is not in the U.S. Congress.

Two things:

Can anybody find the article about the California listener who was stopped by the police, armed while driving in an attempt to assassinate someone Glenn Beck was incensed by?

Being that all of these are horrible tragedies, why does Boston get the most coverage, press etc, Sandy Hook second, and West, Texas, a distant third? The company that ran that ammonium nitrate plant, had problem after problem, the explosion seemed to be avoidable, and as far as tragic scale, there are sixty people, that they can't even find in that one! Seems to me, if the Federal prosecutors need to pull out the murder and interstate commerce laws, it is for that one; in the meanwhile side-show clowns want to promote all kinds of crazy crap within the framework of our button-pushing news stories.

It kind of reminds me of a show my kids watch, where the smartest character is a talking dog. All the time he goes on about some incredible intellectual pursuit, then someone throws a ball, and he is off after it, mid sentence. I guess the reason that is so funny is we resemble it.

Um, they are conservatives, but the Republican party lost their damn mind and decided that intelligence was a hinderance (see Sarah Palin, Todd Akin, Richard Mourdock, Sharron Angle, etc). Heck I ddin't even mention that I respect George H.W. Bush, or Rob Portman, etc.

There are a lot of great republicans, and there even used to be a lot of great minds in the non-governmental conservative movement. William F. Buckley was an intellectual hero of mine, even if our philosophies differed. He was a great thinker and a great debater. His legacy is now carried forward by anti-intellectual used car salesmen like Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levine. The modern conservative movement is led by entertainers in the PT Barnum mold, who are undeniably brilliant with respect to their ability to manipulate angsty and angry stupid people, but possess incredibly unsophisticated and unlearned world views.

Again, pkt, those people aren't conservatives. And the republican party lost it's mind long ago. Chrise Christie is NOT a conservative. I like the guy for his honesty, but he's not a conservative at all

Rhode- YOu make a good point (I know...) but don't lump in Mark Levine with Rush and Hannity. Levine is an acutal constitutional lawyer that knows his ****. Rush and Hannity, you're right, are shock jocks of the political world. I don't listen to either. Levine gets a little crazy on his show from time to time....but I'd put him up against ANYONE the left has in a debate.

They are much, much more to the left.

And even so....You don't think Maddow, Schultz, O'donnell have tons of money?

Hey, don't accuse a party of class warfare if you're living on the same street in Beverly hills.

Why do libby's deny that the attack on the rich is such a failed and hypocritical battle??

Wealthy people are everywhere. I dont have MSNBC so I cant comment. But on JS and SC, both have personal opinions/biases, to the left(JS does express it more), but Ive also never seen JS complain or try to resist a tax hike on himself, from what i can remember he was vocally encouraging it.

What a fair and classy guy.

All you people are giving him too hard a time for being a ridiculously one-sided hack. I think its quite partisan of him to give the White House till Monday to tell their story first.

I'd say as a whole Fox news is the best. It's just brought down by the awfulness that is Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, and the cast of the five. They have Sheppard Smith which is a plus. There is a liberal bias but MSNBC is awful. Jon Stewart does lean left but he's a comic, and if he pays his taxes I'm fine with HIM supporting tax increases.
