As the Dolphins continue their elusive search for a high-impact stretch-the-field tight end, general manager Jeff Ireland keeps defending the maligned player he drafted; several intriguing veterans approach free agency; and Hall of Famer Nick Buoniconti is making an impassioned plea for Miami to follow his advice on the issue. "There's one guy that can change this offense and that's Tyler Eifert," Buoniconti, a Notre Dame alum, said of the 6-6 Fighting Irish tight end and former receiver. "But I'm not sure the Dolphins have the vision to get him," Buoniconti said. ???If he stays healthy, he will re-write the tight end record books. He's that good. If the Dolphins had any sense of wanting to improve the team down the middle and open it up for other receivers, this is the guy. He's a gem. "I'm sure he doesn't fit the mold for the Dolphins. He's too good." Some draft analysts consider Miami's 12th pick high for Eifert, but Buoniconti said he's worthy of a top-10 selection. He's also an option if Miami trades down.
Eifert is also projected to go in the first round, but the 6-5 1/2, 256-pound tight end limited his Pro Day participation to just position drills after establishing himself as the top tight end prospect last month at the NFL Scouting Combine.
this position is waaaaaaaay 2 stacked to be offering a run of the mill TE with an offer from Purwho.
sounds good...who knows, if we get him now and he blows up and has a monster senior year we might be getting one of the best TE's in the country.

Funny how things work out.
Man Billy Tucker nailed his evaluation on Eifert.
I'm going to hold you to that statement!Draft Tek has him going 12 to Miami. I would shart if that happened.

I'm going to hold you to that statement!
walterfootball.com has him going to the bears at 20 in their latest mock draft
if they think a decent option at LB will fall to them in the 2nd round this may happen and it wouldn't make me upset at all
probably is the best move to shop that pick b/c i think we can get quality at LB and OG later in the first round.
I'm hearing that Eifert is a hot commodity...As you know when you get closer to draft day you hear about late risers. What I've been hearing is at worse Eifert will go #17 to Pittsburgh. Cleveland could trade down to the 11th spot with San Diego to draft Eifert and there is a very good chance the Dolphins take him at #12. There have even been some rumblings he could go in the back end of the top 10. GM's around the league believe he is the pro typical new era TE and fits perfectly in the modern NFL.
lol...part of is from him on Mike and Mike in the morning, others from what I heard watching the NFL network and CBS Sports network draft specials last night. That's from Kiper right?
