Why do you see Juju Smith as a safety? Kid looks like a Marquis Lee clone.

Because the staff, 75% of the schools that are recruiting him and Juju himself think he is better at safety. Also he seems a little bigger and not as fast as Lee

From a receiver standpoint, if we are talking about safeties turned wide receivers, I'd say he's more Keenan Allen than Marquise Lee. He's explosive like Lee, but isn't the speed demon that Lee is.

I'm so depressed...

don't be.

remember we brought c.j. prosise in as a safety and now it's looking like he'll be our starting slot receiver in the fall.

just get as many studs on the dotted line as possible and on campus and figure out where to put them later.

exactly and don't forget Marqise Lee committed to USC as a DB but soon realized he's more valuable with the ball consistently in his hands.

Lee was promised a shot at WR by Lane Kiffin, so after originally being recruited as a S, he committed as a WR...

We seem to be going after some pretty highly rated recruits from TN (maybe it's just me). Is it usually a state with lots of top notch guys?

No. And per capita, it probably puts out the least talent in the south.

visiting for spring game.

Per Barton Simmons of 247, offensive system is a key consideration for Malone. Malone says he will be very interested to see our offense in the spring game. He's not looking to go anywhere that runs the ball the majority of the time, and he knows we are doing more read option stuff.

Having Golson run the offense and how young Golson is could be a plus in this situation.

I'd have thought so too, but Malone sounded a little concerned that our offense might be too run-oriented for him. Hopefully Golson puts on a passing show for him this weekend. I admit I haven't gotten around to watching Quick's tape yet, but Malone's is mouth-watering and that's why he's always been my favorite of our WR targets this cycle (dare I say, at the top of my list).

Yeah Malone said we are a read option team (actually he said we have a read option QB) so he will be interested to see how our offense is run. As we all know though, we aren't a read option team, we are a spread team that runs some read option.

I thought that we did a good job getting the ball to every one last year. But we will also pound the ball down you throat if we want.

Hopefully clearing up that misconception will improve our chances significantly. IIRC, Malone is rumored to be very high on the staff's WR board.

I think it will. He's a high-academics, high-character kid, the type that is often attracted to ND.

Probably will tell him the same thing they told Quick, that a wide reciever like him can be the final piece to a national championship team

wouldn't be surprised to see us air it out a bunch regardless on Saturday....that seems to be the case most often at spring games.

You should watch Quick's tape and while you are at it watch Juju Smith play WR.

Probably not so much when you're thin at WR and DB right now.

Kelly used the tight end a ton last year with Mike H. visiting, I wouldn't be surprised to see us air it out. It would probably come from Hendrix and Malik with our young guns but throwing it around regardless.

Got no problem with airing it out in the B&G game, but I think it'd be dumb to mess around with maybe our most valuable spring practice just because of who's standing on the sideline watching. I mean, isn't Sony Michel supposed to be there too? What'll he think?

I also think it's dumb for top-end recruits to overthink the offensive system, especially with a coaching staff that's shown itself quite willing and able to adapt the system to the players it's got. Pick a school and a team and a coaching staff, and if you're good, you'll get the ball.
