If any game is child friendly it is definitely the Blue-Gold game. It has everything a real game would have except it won't be as crowded and you won't have drunks all around you and your little one

tbh, with Notre Dame not selling beer inside the stadium, has this been an issue recently? I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen someone getting sick or being sloppy drunk in the stadium in the last 10 years. Plenty of tipsy people probably, but nothing dangerous or poor in judgement that I wouldn't take my 2 year old to.

Oddly enough, one of the sloppy drunks was my Army buddy and he got kicked out of the 2011 Air Force game before the finish of the first possession, they were right on top of it. On the other hand, the other sloppy drunk(s) were two people in the gold seats that were puking all over the place and actually passed out in their seats when they weren't puking, but they never got escorted out. That one boggled my mind.

I once witnessed a guy being pulled out on a stretcher and empty bottle of everclear fell out of his pocket. Dude was so drunk it was incredible he was still alive but like you said other than that i haven't seen much of anything involving heavily intoxicated people. Myself is not included haha

I've been to quite a few regular games, and would never take him to those. The crowds just around the stadium are enough, then I can't imagine anyone wanting to hang out with a 2 1/2 year old in a tight space, being occasionally noisy (that actually may liven the place up a bit as quite is it gets at times during the games.) I just figured with it being less crowded inside the stadium, and I would assume outside and thru the campus too, that it would be a great 'family time' for us.

*oh, and **** Michigan. Their game is no charge.

I took my three youngest, two or three years ago to their first I think they were four, six, and eight, they beg me to go back every year. They love it. And more importantly, those there are geared to treat your kids with respect and dignity. Your kids may have a little fuss made over them.

Yeah, Michigan may be the one game I wouldn't take a small child to. Their fans walk around campus like they own the place, even if they just got lost to Appy State. Hearing/seeing the trash talking is always amusing, especially as they go silent when they lose. Used to see them starting some fights years ago too, but theres less of that today.

I actually had seasons tickets to U of M a few years ago. I was decked out in my ND gear and had heard it all game long from a drunk U of M fan in front of me who came in drunk and brought his own in and continued to drink thru the game. We lost in the closing seconds and I still was treated like **** as I walked out, including being spit at as I walked quietly to my truck.

And I took my Girlfriend and her U of M fan family to the Nebraska game a few years back. We were surrounded by drunks, and at one point someone from in front of us tried starting a fight with her 17 year old family member, and they were pulling for the same team. Lol. Now I know this happens at all venues, but every time I've attended a U of M game there has been more than one incident. It was pathetic.

This will be my first time in south bend. Anyone have any cool places to visit? (other then the obvious) Also, what are some good restaurants and bars (night life) to hit up while I'm there over the weekend. You can PM me these places if ya want.

Maybe I'll run into some of you for some beers or something.

The interesting other conversation for this thread is what is the format of the game going to be? Will he have the squads split in half, blue and gold, with each having an offense and defense, so everyone can play? Or will it be offense against defense again?

a few years back if you had a ticket to the game they let you in to watch the ND baseball team that day. If you are going you may want to check out the baseball schedule and see if they are playing at home that day.

After the baseball game we walked back by the football stadium and the players and family were grilling and hanging out. My kids were able to get pictures with several players and to this day is one of their greatest memories.

I'll be there, picked up tickets last week for myself and my brother. It'll be our first spring game, we usually hit 3-4 homes games a year though. Are there any gameday traditions that carry over for the spring game?

Something's messed up here...says a high of 50, low of 36, with 30% chance of scattered snow showers during the day. How does that work when the low is 36? I figured the low would be more towards the evening, not during the day. Only in South Bend I guess.

Yeah, I was watching WNDU (south bend) weather tonight and the outlook according to the meteorologists was possible snow. Maybe the upper air mass will be cold enough to produce snow. But will not accumalate upon touchdown. Anyway, I prefer the weather we had around here last spring much more than the crap we have dealt with this year.

Are you sure that's the forecast for April 20th?

Yup. Go to WNDU weather page on the interweb and look at the 16 day outlook. The 28th looks nice and warm, but the 20th, a high of 45. It is a week away so things can definitely change.

its more than a week away... Weather forecasts that far ahead mean as much to me as a 2 year old teaching me quantum physics.

This. In this area, weather is only accurate a few days out. The 10 day is just a teaser and changes every few hours.

Just finished remodeling my kitchen. It has been in disrepair for at least three years now. I took a week off and fixed it. I just had a beer and sat down and admired a job well done. Now all I can think about is the Blue and Gold Game. I can't wait till Saturday.

Acamp with a little walk on the wild side!

(I am calling this one. I don't pay an exorbitant cable for nothing. It is going to be O against D this year. I don't have the kids. New agreement coming down May, 7th. They will be made available for any ND event I choose with two weeks notice (not to supersede mom's holidays or birthday.)

We will be in attendence next year.

I personally don't walk that walk... but I am observant enough to notice… I’ll drink a Sierra Nevada, or a Stone IPA, with all our pot heads friends come Spring Game… That’s as close as I get.

as for the game... I am really looking forward to seeing our running game.
