.640 winning percentage is pretty good at South Carolina, considering they were pretty much awful before he got there (5+ losses in 13 out of prior 15 seasons before Spurrier), he's had them playing at a high level at the height of the SEC power, and he has back-to-back 11-win seasons. In other words, he's been the coach of the two best seasons in school history.

He does have two of the best seasons in school history but he is also the only SCA coach to coach in 13 game seasons.

some serious moronomics going on in here. Beilema at number 1? youre an idiot. kelly at number 4? what a homer? snyder ahead of urban? gtfo! they put snyder right where he belongs at number 3. legit arguements on spurrier, imo. and les miles is a likeable idiot in a perfect situation. at least notre dame got past the 50 yard line vs bama. something lsu fails to do under les. with offense, les is less..

Bielema should be ahead of Saban....

Shouldn't this be in italics?

In what world is Bret Bielema a better coach than Nick Saban? Bielema is a very good coach, but nobody is touching Nick Saban now, not even Urban Liar.

I don't have too many issues with that list.

Personally I got Gary Patterson from TCU a bit higher maybe 6th on my personal list. I think the guy is just an awesome coach especially when it comes to defense.

In terms of Meyer vs Saban. If you are an elite program I don't think you can go wrong with either guy. However Meyer beats Saban in my opinion when it comes to having success at lesser programs. I am not a Meyer fan but I do respect the guy. What he did at Bowling Green and Utah was spectacular, in many more spectacular than what he or Saban for that matter have done in the SEC. Saban did very well at Toledo but the program Meyer took over at Bowling Green was beyond awful on and off the field. Then for the most part Saban was just average at Michigan State.

Well then, allow me the opportunity to rephrase.

Spurrier's 2011-12 record is the best two-year winning percentage in school history.

2011-12 (.846)

1902-03 (.823)

2000-01 (.708)

1924-25 (.700)

1946-47 (.676)

Anyway you slice it Spurrier is doing very good at South Carolina from a national perspective and great in terms of their program history. There aren't too many coaches who have 10+ win seasons at two different major programs (let alone both being SEC teams) and Spurrier now has 11 total seasons in his career. Let's also not forget he had Duke (!) trending upwards after only 3 seasons, being co-ACC champs in his last year.

Say what you want about Charlie, putting him in the 100's is ridiculous. KU won 1 game last year, but they were competitive in almost all of them, which is saying something considering where Turner Gill left the program. He really did take over KU in an AWFUL situation, and they are improving, but if you don't see it up close I guess all you see is the 1 win. Turner Gill is the all time dumpster fire starter.

I think Kelly at 4 is fair. I know Saban and Meyer are unreal, but I have a hard time not putting Snyder ahead of Meyer. If you look at what he has done, where he has done it, and with who he has done it Snyder is in the discussion of all time top 5. (As much as I hate saying that being a KU guy)

#19 Al Golden's resume: losing record at a small time school against bad competition over 5 seasons; 13-11 with very good recruiting classes at a powerhouse program in Florida playing in a down ACC

#106 Charlie Weis: Took a team that was supposed to start the year 0-6 and be a doormat to back-to-back BCS games despite inheriting very minimal talent... including two back-to-back classes of players where most wouldn't make MAC rosters. Hit a rough stretch and got fired (largely due to having no upperclassmen that were legitimate BCS caliber players thanks to those aforementioned horrible classes)... ended up at Kansas where he didn't really improve the team in his first year.

In short, Al Golden's best seasons = Charlie Weis' seasons that got him fired. Despite being in a much better position to succeed. But he's #19. Got it.
