I'd like as many as possible to redshirt and take time to develop to build depth. I especially hope none of the offensive linemen have to see the field this year and get some time to get bigger.

EV and Jaylon are too good to keep off the bench and will see a lot of playing time from day 1. Redfield and Luke will probably at least contribute on special teams. I think a frosh WR or two sees time as well (not Robinson unless he puts on 25 lbs before fall).

Shocker of the year...Sully wants to see Redfield the most. I think you were happier than Brian Kelly when Redfield committed LOL.

Smythe is a longshot bro...he needs to add a lot to his frame. I thought Heurmann was bigger and people say HE looks way too skinny. I like him, but an extra year might do him some good.

1) Jaylon Smith
2) Eddie Vanderdoes
3) Max Redfield
4) The rest of the class
5) I wonder if there's a new Leprechaun

Note: Not intended to be a slight. I'm crazy excited about the class. I'm just particularly curious to see these three guys..

1. Rochell - I think he's on par with Vanderdoes and has flown a bit under the radar. He may not see the field as quickly as Vanderdoes, but he's a stud.

2. Bivin - The best OL in the class, IMO. His position versatility is exciting. ND's version of Barrett Jones. I can't wait to see what the staff does with him.

3. Kinlaw - He may be the most athletic recruit we signed in '13. Will need some time to develop, but I see him challenging Luke, Brown, Butler, etc for playing time after a redshirt year.

4. Montelus - I've seen him play in person and I'm not as high on him as the recruiting services (and some members of this board). I'm eager to see how he handles the transition to college after playing against weak competition in Mass and a move to the inside.

5. Matuska - Maybe the player ND fans are least excited about in this class. I want to see if he flashes sleeper potential or if he has a long way to go to crack a DL depth chart that's only going to get deeper with future classes.

I hope we don't see Elmer this year. If we do, I'd be worried how good our offensive line really is if a freshman is overpowering our upperclassmen and guys with experience. Certainly want him on there if he's the best, but freshmen on the line just don't usually work out very well.

I'm not so worried about Elmer if he takes the field because 1) He is an EE 2) I don't think its necessarily indicative of the line's talents, I think it will be more a testament of how good he is and will add depth to a line that could use some more bodies on it. If we play Elmer and one of the other OL recruit, I won't be overly concerned

5) Deeb- I don't necessarily expect him to play this year but I love everything I read and see about him. I love a tireless (talk about ironic description) work ethic and desire to improve. I can't wait for rodeo drills w him against a TE and Bryant crashing into the line. There is no way this guy isn't an absolute fan favorite over the next 5 years.

I also am super pumped at the prospect of developing Bivin, Elmer, Monteleus, Rochell, Fuller and a bunch of others. This class F'in rocks. There truly isn't a member of the class that I am not excited about.

As a linemen you typically need a year or two to increase your size and strength, work on the footwork, learn the blocking schemes, etc. Steve's coming to us in pretty good shape already, and if theres a guy that can do it, it's probably him. Just hope it doesn't work out like it did for Sam Young.

I know OL typically redshirts, but there may be no better option than Elmer if we need depth. Hopefully it doesnt come to that... Either way, I think the Irish will be fine :)

Agree kid is an elite athlete. I was really high on him as a corner also. But, recently I've just been thinking how he could be an elite, dynamic, game breaking WR.

1. Eddie Vanderdoes (ahead of Jaylon b/c I think he might be more ready in terms of build)
2. Jaylon Smith: he could be a legend before all is done
3. Redfield: he is very polished for a freshman and he still has tremendous potential...I see him as a big play guy
4. Rochelle: This is a young man who will make plays in limited action...for now
5. Robinson: Before the Spring videos, I would have said he is a guy who needs plenty of work before he reaches his potential, but now I am not so sure. If the clips we have seen are a fair indicator, Corey Robinson might not be a late bloomer at all.
