Said the trip was "sweet" but seemed to have higher praise for UT and UF. Looking for good relationship with coaching staff, a program on the rise, and academics "a little bit."

Discusses recent visits to Tennessee, Florida, Florida State, ND, Michigan and Ohio State. Still hopes to get to Penn State and Stanford.

Basically liked all his visits. He didn't say much of much interest about the southern schools, just basically that he had good visits. Dad stayed in the background at ND, even though he's an alum, because he wanted Alex to see the school for himself. Enjoyed hanging out with his bro and being on campus for the basketball game at UM. Impressed by the intensity of OSU practices.

Didn't say much about ND. Based on that article alone, no way to tell if he is leaning toward any school in particular. Basically, he likes everywhere he has visited. He doesn't sound close to a decision at all.

All he really had to say was it was "sweet"

If I had to guess he is favoring Tennessee

I guess that's true ... When I first read it I couldn't tell whether he was giving those schools higher praise or just talking about them more because he hadn't expected to like them so much.

I could see that. He really seems to like the direction they are pointed under this new regime.

What are the options at OT now with McDermott prob going to Miami and Bars perhaps leaning elsewhere? I know Braden Smith will probably be an OT but we need two more.

This is the big question. I don't think anyone knows. I asked Sapp on the BGI board (there is a "recruiting mailbag" thread where he takes questions from members about recruiting) and he has not responded. I posted my question like 5 days ago. That may mean that he just doesn't know the answer.

We are pursuing other guys like Jamarco Jones, but none of them have much interest in ND. I expect some new names to pop up soon.

I was under the impression that Smith was strictly a guard.

Not sure if he's strictly a guard -- he may be a Nick Martin type who can play tackle too, not sure -- but he's ranked as a guard and I am definitely under the impression that most schools intend to use him as a guard.

It's amazing what having a Jones, Mustipher, and Nelson visting can do for a kid's motivation!

This is a smart move on Bars part. Whether he wants to committ or not, he is putting himself in a position where he can make a decision while spots are still avialble. OL spots fill up fast.

If he's coming back, then we had to make an impression even if he didn't make a big statement after his first visit.

He's rated on Rivals as an OT. He's 6-6 and is super athletic. Inexperienced as a pass blocker because of the offense he plays in.
