Mason looks very good for a HS junior Olineman. That makes me even more upset he's in that picture. No way he goes and blocks for that baby Morris.

This seems a bit of a shock considering Hoke's no visit rule. I thought for sure he would come to a practice or spring game before deciding. Oh well....bring on Gibbons!

Likely reduces our chances with Artavis Scott, too. Wonder what UM is doing that we're not.

Michael Ferns is one (small) thing, haven't seen anyone in the "golden army" recruiting

In other news ND just offered Cole's teammate George Campbell who just visited Michigan. Dont think thats just a coincidence

Didn't UM get after it really early last year? I know our junior day was very successful too, but I wonder if our staff will adapt next year and move our junior day up in order to make a really strong first impression. I think first impressions and last impressions are critical for recruiting.

Might be true, but that doesn't seem to have been a factor for Cole or Hood. We allegedly led for both, and both had good visits to ND, but they were blown away by their time in Ann Arbor. That indicates there's some deficiency in our on-campus experience.

Is it a deficiency in our on-campus experience or a showing of how great UM is at their visits?

cole never saw the campus with students on it correct?

hood visited on his own with no other recruits and many players not there as well.

Recruiting is a (series of) zero-sum game(s), so it doesn't really matter. If one of your chief competitors is routinely eating your lunch, doesn't matter if he's beating you by an inch or a mile.

Maybe Cole and Hood were just naturally predisposed to prefer the big state school environment over ND. If that's the case, probably nothing to worry about here. But these were both kids for whom we initially led, and UM's sales pitch is pretty similar to ours.

In his interview with 247 cited Ann Arbor as a city, Ferns and Speight, and the coaching staff on why he committed

I don't look at it as getting beat. I look at it as a kid that prefers Michigan having some sort of deficiency or abnormality that is difficult to account for.

Michigan? Ha....ok. Good luck, kid.
