So last night, went out w/friends b/c I won some really good Wings tix. Needless to say we had a few beers:

Labatt Blue - nuff said
Molson Canadian - nuff said
Molson Canadian *** - Yo!
Warsteiner Premium Varnum - Liked this one a lot
Frankenmuth Brewery Batch #69 IPA - First time trying this one, pretty good IPA, not too bitter
Arcadia Anglers Ale - Didn't stand out, but ok
Bells Two Hearted Ale - A great IPA
Atwater Block Brewery Dirty Blonde - a good summer beer, similar to Bell's Oberon. Has coriander in it and is usually served w/an orange (which I hate)

My girlfriend IS Kate Upton. At least she looked like her after the beer was gone!

Any of you guys had Rogue Dead Guy from Oregon? I had it by accident at a pizza place here and it was awesome. Not much of a drinker but it's my new fav.

Right now I'm enjoying some Paddy Irish whiskey. It's a smooth, everyday drinking type of whiskey. It's my other inexpensive go to Irish, along with Powers. It wasn't available in the USA for quite some time but that changed in the past few years.

There's a great story behind how it got its name. In Ireland back when ,the whiskey used to be called something else, but the company had a sales rep named Paddy Flaherty who was one of those hale-and-hearty types. Paddy would go to pubs, tell jokes, buy rounds, and generally act the part of a garrulous bar room Irishman. People would ask for "Paddy's whiskey." Flaherty's company frowned on his tactics but he became so synonymous with the brand that the whiskey was renamed in his honor.

This is a tremendous beer, if you like chocolate and stout. Don't know how I let it sit in my fridge so long.

I just picture this thread, but with different strands of cannabis, in about five years.

For what it's worth, tonight I had some Chivas Regal and about a half-dozen PBRs. Mmmmmm.

Interesting contrast in alcohol selection. It's like Anthony Hopkins and Larry the Cable Guy went out for a drink together.

Anthony Hopkins + Larry The Cable Guy = Hipsters.

(although I usually think of Busch when I think of rednecks)

Don't let hipsters recent pathetic attempt to take over the PBR demographic fool you, it has been claimed by rednecks for decades.

Well yeah. I agree though, it's a good beer. Especially for being made in SB.

For Michiana craft beer fans I would recommend Bare Hands brewery in Granger. I personally think their beer is a lot better than Four Horseman. I especially liked their Mail Order Bride Russian Imperial Stout.

Right now I am having Autumn Maple from The Bruery. I find it pretty underwhelming. Neither the yams nor the maple syrup come across much in the taste. Sweet, but not overpoweringly so. There is nothing really wrong with this beer, just not much exciting about it either. Just a decent Belgian style beer. I will say it is incredibly drinkable for a 10% abv beer.

Well if a hipster's lone quality is finding good use in something generally disregarded by society's whims, I'll give them one point haha

Regardless, PBR > Busch, Bud, Miller, Natty, Coors, Keystone.

You can add Yuengling on the > side as well. If I've gotta drink an American Adjunct Lager, I'll always reach for one of those two.

In other news, I recently stumbled upon this site, which made me rethink my usual Old Fashioned recipe.

Weller Antique, simple syrup, orange bitters, and an orange twist made one of the best Old Fashioneds I've ever had.

I'm certain Hopkins drinks better Scotch than Chivas 12y.

Hell, I drink better Scotch than Chivas 12. I'm thinking that Chivas Regal's marketing people would like to believe that someone like Hopkins is a good representative of their brand. After all, the word "Regal" is right there in the name.

Any of you TX boys out there, here's some good news. One of the best brewers in MI is coming to you!.

Some of my faves:
Dirty Bastard
Breakfast Stout
Centennial IPA

SCUMHater and any other West MI guys probably have some too.

Grand Rapids — Michigan-based Founders Brewing Co. has reached a distribution deal that will bring its beers to Texas.

The Grand Rapids Press reports that starting April 8 the Grand Rapids-based brewer will distribute beer through Ben E. Keith distributors.

Founders plans to include all of its year-round and seasonal ales as draft product in the first shipment for release in April. Bottled beers will be sold starting in May, and specialty beers will be available later. Founders' beers are sold in a number of other states.

I'm currently chasing a third of a bottle of Paddy Irish whiskey with several bottles of Harp while watching "The Expendables." It's best way to express my Irish-American pride without having to leave home.
