Which is no different than getting someone to write essays, do assignments or projects, etc. for you in a classroom-based class.

Yes, for things done individually outside the classroom. But more often than not, a large portion of your grading is done with in-class testing or group projects. At some point, each person needs to demonstrate inclass what they know. If there is a large difference in the quality of work between what was submitted before, red flags would be raised.

I didn't even do quizzes for my online courses, and the final was always on site and proctored. It all depends on the instructor, just like an on-site course…. again, my expereince is online courses will demand more in terms of writing and reading... I prefer them as I never got as much from a lecture or in class discussion as I got from reading and working on my own... but everyone is different. I feel that online education certainly has it's place when done right and is every bit as legit as anything else,... I learned more in that setting than I did on site, I can say that honestly.

I think that "when done right and legitimately" is what is in question here. I don't like the trend toward online courses but it may be the future. As I get older I find that I trust less and less...especially the SEC who seem to be more concerned with winning titles than educating their student athletes. Recognizing that his situation in unigue, it also seems that JFF wants to pick and choose when and where he gets to be the star on campus. Don't like it.

Same exact issue may arise with any course or instructor... on site or otherwise...

I don't disagree, but the question is whether or not one opens the door wider for academic dishonesty for student athletes more than the other. In my opinion, the answer is yes.

It just makes him look like a bigger punk than he already is.

Maybe I should trademark the nickname "Mr. Boñerz" because that was mine at ND?

How long before Johnny claims he invented the Internet?

For crying out loud, lots of people called Unitas "Johnny Football," there was an 80s movie called "Johnny B Good" and the character is called "Johnny Football" in it, and the term "Johnny Football Hero" has been around for decades.

This just goes to show what a good lawyer and dollar signs in your eyes can produce for yourself.
