That's 3 receivers from TX in this class, and we lost the RB from Houston. Glad Irish are back in the loop in these parts, the talent pool has to be accessed.

Love this pickup. After watching a few minutes of both of their films, I really like the way Smythe and Heuerman complement each other. It probably won't be quite as clear-cut as this, but I basically like Smythe for the Niklas role and Heuerman for the Eifert role, to the extent that there is any difference going forward.

Good kid. ND owning the TE position in this cycle and again on the field for the next 5 years. Glad the coaches pulled the trigger and went after the second TE.

This is awesome! I went out trimmed the bushes, put the x-mas tree up in the attic, washed the car, and did a little yard pest control! Come back to a TE from Texas committing to ND! Love it! Glad he is coming here and not going to the Tree. He looks like he has great hands and can stretch the field pretty well. Didn't see any film of him block but can be taught. If he would have gone to Stanford he would have been a pain in our *** for 3-4 years so I'm thrilled with this pick-up!

Durham reminds me a bit of Kyle Rudolph; he's not the fastest guy in the world but he's very dependable in the passing game and physical in the run game.

I agree, good comparison. Similar-looking players out there.

One TE to another. I am really looking forward to both contributing for the Irish.

This was the way I looked at it as well...at least at the onset. How these two develop and respond to coaching will determine how it plays out. Competition is great. Nice pick-up.

Hadnt seen those highlights yet. Thanks for bringing them over, allgator. He looks pretty big already. Excited for what this kid will look like physically after 1-2 years hitting the weights

I really like the way he blocks and he has a great catching radius. I think this kid is going to be good.

Really great pickup. Approximately 2 spots left now... interested to see what happens with Prevot/Isaac next week. Excluding punters we've got 5 prospects left on our board for 2 spots... none of them we lead for but all of them we have a shot at.

Only if EV is one of them though, right?

No, we likely have 2 no matter what. We could probably have up to 3 if the staff took 2 of Isaac/Prevot/Hollins/Fitts before EV made a decision. The odds of that happening though are minuscule.
