I repped you for your moral compass. I'm sure you suffer no gimbal lock although you may gimble when you read this reply.

Gimble - to make a face, grimace.

There is a story on ESPN claiming they have AT&T phone records that supposedly show over 100's of calls to the number associated to Lennay.

Just saw that. I hope those records are legit.

I have lost all respect for the media. I can't listen to any of it. Worst part is, a majority of people are stupid, and their information is coming from stupid media representatives. It's a compounded problem that could haunt Manti for awhile.

Honest question:

How much more proof do people need to be convinced? I understand that not everybody will be convinced but damn.

I really don't remember seeing so much evidence piled onto the side of innocence like this ever before. I mean really. Even the flower receipts and phone records indicate he was telling the truth.

I mean, I've been on Manti's side the entire time and was convinced with less evidence simply because the evidence stacked against him was well, weak and pathetic at best.

This is interesting.

According to the Facebook page of Sportsbeat 960 (copy and pasted from their status):

"ESPN says in a New York Times article that the Te'o hoax story was tipped to them by Manti's agent Tom Condon. This is an agent wanting to control the story by going thru ESPN. ESPN couldn't nail down the story so they waited. Bing Bang Boom..Deadspin beat them to the punch and Condon lost control of the story. All he had to do is make Manti available to ESPN but he didn't. Why..that is the big question."

There is no amount of evidence that will be sufficient. We have become a "nation of haters." It is sickening.

I've honestly had to step back from the situation and stop talking about it altogether. I just don't have the mental energy to try and convince people, when they clearly are not rational.

ESPN's @JeremySchaap: Unverified phone records suggest Te'o was on phone w/person he thought was Kekua for 110 calls of more than an hour.

Jim Rome just talked about the phone records and called the perpetrators sick and twisted. Had Manti's back.

Then the local news came on and all they said was 'Manti Teo admitted to lying about his fake girlfriend.'

**** this. As Grahambo said, I've never seen so much evidence accumulated to prove someone innocent. People are just bound and determined to hate someone.

The major problem is that this has turned into a mainstream story and most, if not all of the new information that comes out is covered by the sports media which they never watch or listen to.

Both stories are equally true. He was duped by his "girlfriend". He also continued the lie after the 6th. He admitted as much to Couric.

.... patiently waiting for Deadspin headline, "Te'o only talked to "girlfriend" 110 times in 2 years? CLICK HERE!"

Only 110 calls of an HOUR OR MORE. I can't even imagine how many other, shorter calls there were.

What the hell is wrong with the woman who would speak on the phone with a man for over an hour 110 times (!) just for the sake of a practical joke or ruse. Just don't understand how you could live you life like that.

He knew Kekua wasn't dead after the 6th, but he didn't know it was a hoax until much later. And since Kekua claimed to have faked her death to avoid drug dealers, it's not clear he lied out of self-interest. We'll have to wait for the Couric interview to get more details.

But "Te'o lied" makes a better headline.

This is a really good point. I never thought about it like this.

Brilliant analogy by Maisel:

"Mabel, that guy's either the dumbest, stupidest, the most imbecilic idiot in the world or he's the grandest thing alive. I can't make him out."

And then she says:

"Here's a guy that's wholesome and fresh. To us, he looks like a freak. … He's got goodness, Mabel. Do you know what that is? No, of course you don't. We've forgotten. We're too busy being smart alecks. Too busy in a crazy competition for nothing."

Deeds gave the money away, got the girl and returned to Vermont a hero. I don't know whether Te'o will become a hero again. We know he won't get the girl. But it seems pretty clear to me that he's got goodness. Capra made his last movie more than a half-century ago. He has been dead for more than two decades. But I am betting he would have recognized Te'o.

The person on the other end of those phone calls has major issues.. or is just an incredible actor. Either way, IMO they are a huge POS.

Maybe that person ended up actually falling for him on some level? Love is weird.

I kinda thought the same thing. They had to have become somewhat attached to hang on the phone for that long.

I heard some talking head on radio say that he refuses to believe Manti 'cause he is tired of being duped and doesn't want to be again.

Like it's Manti's fault all this happened?

I remember after all the evidence was out, people still said all we need are the phone records......Well we have them. Lots of them. What will anyone say now? Other than just make jokes? I'm so glad this is over. Still wish he didn't do this interview though.

Local radio in Detroit is saying phone records aren't enough - need to know what was going on on the phone, what was said, etc. Also said the phone records were on a spreadsheet and easily doctored.

Hey having trouble tracking this down with a quick Google search but what are the names of the three people supposedly involved in the hoax?

I know there is Tuiasosopo but what was the girl's name again?
