Wes Welker's wife apologizes for Ray Lewis Facebook comments - CBSSports.com

"Proud of my husband and the Pats," Welker wrote on her Facebook page. "By the way, if anyone is bored, please go to Ray Lewis' Wikipedia page. 6 kids 4 wives. Acquitted for murder. Paid a family off. Yay. What a hall of fame player! A true role model!"

I didn't see this posted anywhere but, WOWZA! Somebody had too many glasses of merlot!

Thankfully she later apologized and I believe took it down. BTW, Antonio Cromartie thinks having 6 kids w 4 wives is just a busy weekend.

As for Mrs. Welker, atleast she didn't call out other Patriouts players like some ones wife did last year *cough* Jizzelle Brady *cough*

This American we have something called free speech.

Any idiot can say any idiotic thing they want. As long as it doesn't infringe on another idiot's rights.

I personally think its hilarious but I can see Wes just shaking his head, knowing the medias run with it. Funny how he is painted a role model by the media and Te'o is being crucified by some of the media!

Somebody had to say it. The media certainly won't. Shame it had to fall on Mrs. Welker.

I absolutely LOVE it. I want more of it, all dang 2 weeks long. Let's compare America celebrating this phony, overacting, cheating, lying, criminal to the vilification of Manti Te'o being duped by some crooked psychos. Yeah, good job America!

And let's not even get into the PAINFULLY OBVIOUS steroids this dude is on. Dude is enormously big, and so roided out that he can barely even move is arms (did you see him try and catch that tipped pass that fell right into his arms the first playoff game? He literally couldn't put his arms together to catch it...and yet no one says anything??? And yet baseball players get CRUCIFIED if they get caught doing steroids. But I digress). At least Bill Simmons has pointed out that it is strange that he came back so fast from tearing his tricep muscle (look at the normal rate of recovery for an athlete and then look at his rate).

Thank you Mrs. Welker for saying what many of us believe.

Only thing not true in her statement is the "4 wives" comment. I don't believe Ray has been married(which makes the kid part even worse).

Maybe "wives" should be replaced with "baby mommas"

Personally, I am much less likely to spit venom at strangers after the Manti affair.

As far as sterroids, HGH, etc.... I will never defend anyone on that score anymore, you just don't know. However, sterroids aside, some people are just bigger and stronger than other people: Stephon Tuitt and Manti Teo are exhibits 1 and 2. Ray Lewis is a freak. He was never anything but an incredibly imposing man and he was dominant in highschool in Florida, at Miami, and in the pros.

Absolutely.

And this may be the first time I've ever agreed with Rhode on anything beyond ND football- haha!

The pass this dude has gotten and continues to get is beyond ridiculous.

Not a big Ray Lewis fan and agree with Mrs. Wes that he is far from a role model, but there was nothing constructive that was going to come out of her going onto social media and blasting him. It has the distinctive odor of sour grapes and just makes her look like a dunce. I do agree that it is about time that someone called Ray Ray out, but she was not the apprpriate person to do it and her timing could not have been worse.

I am glad she said it. Ray Lewis is personally responsible allowing a murder to go unpunished. He was there at the scene. Instead of doing the right thing and admitting he killed the guy or someone in his group did, they went silent. Disgusting and I hope he is never put in the place where a loved one is murdered and it goes unsolved because people or too cowardly to do the right thing. F*** Ray Lewis.

We'll obviously never know, but I thought the public opinion on Kobe was that girl tried to scam him?

Might be public opinion in California.

Although I truly believe this encounter between us was consensual, I recognize now that she did not and does not view this incident the same way I did. After months of reviewing discovery, listening to her attorney, and even her testimony in person, I now understand how she feels that she did not consent to this encounter.

True among NBA fans. The rest of us, not so much.
I am glad Mrs. W. said what she did. St. Ray is a dirt bag and I am disgusted by the adoration of the media for him.

Nope, I lived in Colorado at the time. I believe it's pretty much public opinion everywhere.

Not amongst most people I know. But like you said we'll never know... like many other situations....
