Kelly and staff can look at kids like hooper and determine how they can develop his football skills physically by who the kid is mentally. We all connect with certain types of people. Some Kidds with elite physical ability never get it mentally and become a bust or never see the field in college. Look at players Weiss brought in and we never seen. I gotta think starting with the 11 class their will be very few flops with Kelly's players.

I will take a kid that the coaches connect with and know they can develop over a flashy arrogant 5star that poisons locker rooms and peeks in high school.(lynch)

Playing alongside guys like deeb and anzalone this could be a special group. USC is putting together a pretty good fantasy football roster, but let's see if they all check their egos at the door and play together like our group. Go Irish!

Looks good at te too...

Lynch didn't peak in high school

"peaked in high school" ^yeah I think that is just sourness since he left ND the way he did. That kid will be a menace in the coming years....gonna make USF forget about Pierre-Paul

I'm in the minority here, but i'm not that impressed with him. IMO I don't think he can play CAT, he would have to bulk up and play DE. Give me Sickels over him please.

After looking at his film a second time he is very slowly growing on me.

He has the frame to put on the weight needed to play DE at the college level. If CAT is ND's OLB/DE hybrid that wont be his position, he is a DE (ideally for him prob a 4-3). He is no Rochell but it would be a nice get

YUP! Hit the nail on the head, KLM was 6'4"/6'5" and ~230 lbs coming out of HS... all about having the frame to grow into a DE. He seems very lean in his videos and if the staff sees the potential there then it would be a good pickup. He's clearly athletic as evident by his play at TE.

JJ Watt is another good example of a guy who had the frame and athletic ability but was overlooked coming out of HS because he was lean and people went "who the hell wants a 220 pound DE?" and I think he got recruited by BK at Central Michigan as a "big skill" kind of guy or TE if my memory serves me correctly. Only about 220 pounds out of HS... his playing weight at Wisconsin I just looked up to be around 290.

Yep you also nailed it. Still would rather have Sickels, but he is a nice consolation prize.

Got a new iphone for father's day (my first 'smart phone' - I'm FAR behind the times technology-wise) from my wifey, and she hooked up email to it, so I got your reported post Lax right away and took care of it. His IP address was new, but he got the heave-ho because of his name ripping the Irish and his first post was ripping a recruit. Saves the mods from headaches later on. I'm sure he'll be back anyway...

Make sure you download Tapatalk and link it to IE. It is a life saver if you are trying to read the site on your phone.

I'd like him as a DE, not an OLB. If we get an over-sized OLB, I'd like Muhhamed.

Per 247 Visit went well and we should be in good position

Of note, he wants to make a decision in January, which very well could be too late to get a spot at the DE/CAT spot

Decision could now be coming sooner, said his attitude has changed about having to take his OVs. Will go home look at pros and cons of schools

I think he knows that if he waits until January to decide then it might be too late to jump on board

Did anyone catch that he said Diaco told him he would play "weakside, outside linebacker", per 247? Like others on here, I see him as more of a DE than an LB, let alone a DOG LB. I just wasn't blown away by his mobility; I thought his strength was his toughness and ability to fight through blocks. I almost think it was a mis-quote by 247, or maybe even by Hooper. But maybe that just shows what I know.

P.S. GITF great call on Tapatalk. It really is critical for using the site on iPhone/iPad.

I may have underestimated him. At the end of his video there are some highlights of him playing TE. He can definitely run.

Said he hasn't heard from Notre Dame in quite a while per 247. I'm guessing we all understand that they probably stopped recruiting him

Too bad. DLS kids are everything you want in a player. Tough, smart, and above all else disciplined. Definitely the kind of kid this staff could develop into a stud.

Damn. This is the exact type of guy that flys slightly under the radar, goes to Stanford, and goes from pretty good prospect to great defensive player. Our OL is going to hate him. Great pull for the Cardinal

I was gonna say something similar. Great pick-up for the Tree.

Spoke a little too soon I guess. Apparently he will be playing TE for Stanford. Not going to lie, after seeing him dominate the Semper Fi game at DE, I am not mad at this news.

Bummed. On a year where we have more room, this kid would be a very nice pull off the west coast.

Agree with Ironman on him playing TE. I'd rather have Jaylon guarding him downfield than Elmer and company trying to handle him around the line of scrimmage.
