So much for commitments.

I think it's shabby.

But I would not have waited 4 weeks for the school to contact me. With $100-150K on the line I would have been on the phone the first day, sent a registered letter w/return receipt, and then driven or flown to the school to confirm MY spot ... particularly as a 3 star or less recruit.

Can someone enlighten me here:

Once a new head coach and his coaching staff is hired by a certain university, do they have an obligation to uphold verbal commitments made to the previous regime?

Just curious as whether there is a rule for this or no. Thanks in advance folks.

There is no "legal" obligation until the school offers a formal Letter of Intent and the recruit and parents sign it and return it. That takes place on National Signing Day in early Feb each year. Verbal commitments and "offers" are not binding.

If true, Tubberville is a real scumbag. If your coach has no integrity you can expect him to recruit players that will bring only negative publicity to your school. The players are a reflection of their coach.

If you want respect, you must give it first.

As a (secondary) UC fan, I will say that there have been answers locally, including a couple radio interviews, where the UC admin has said that all recruits were contacted by the staff after Tuberville was hired.

I'm not defending him in any way, just sharing what I've heard. I would provide links, but I'm lazy and watching playoff football.
