No way I was the only one seeing this guy do some serious damage to their O-line when he was in, right?

Nope! Him and Springmann have been pleasant surprises for guys like me who don't get to see practice.

Really nice depth and a solid rotation going.

Love the red-headed James P. Sullivan.

No, just haven't seen an up close pick of Kona in a while. Looks damn mean. Another year of weights and backing up Nix and he'll be ready to feel the void when Irish Chocolate leaves.

Kona's eligibility is up after next year.

ED: I'd find it hard to . . . are our true warriors on this team.

........ I have to specifically cite Kona too as one of our great warriors. He has really pleased me this season --- fine job Big Man!.

Mike as usual is locked in and dead on!

Kona was a warrior god last night. He blew up so many plays, especially a couple important third downs that he helped create the numbers superiority that ND had in rushing the passer. ASU was simply fvcked trying to double Lou, and Kona, with Tuitt, Williams, and Shembo unaccounted for!

Thought this comment from BK was bump worthy. From Today's presser:

Really wish we didn't burn his redshirt. Would have been so huge to have him available to come back next year.

It's seriously terrible, with the way the depth chart is right now, that we lose him after this year. Freaking Tuitt and his alarm clock ... Gah

I definitely see Kona as an UFA, who makes a team and becomes a rotational player down the line.

And then Tuitt got suspended sophomore year + injuries forced him into action. Would be so awesome to have him back next year.

forgot about that....hindsight we could have probably got away with not playing him against purdue that year

I absolutely believe he's an NFL quality player. Never got the recognition sitting behind Nix, but he did stand out in his own right.

He's a different kind of player and will fit a 4-3 better than a 3-4. Nix is the prototypical NT who can take on double teams all day and clog up the middle but Kona is better at penetrating to make a play.

Kona played very well in the Shamrock series last year. I hope the Cowboys draft him as we need lots of good DTs.
