Eilar Hardy is going to be a name to watch next year. I have heard nothing but good things from his this year. Redfield has his work cut out for him. Kids arent just going to roll over bc he is a 5 star. Sure as a fanbase its nice to get, but he is not entitled to anything on this team. He will have to come in and work. THat is how dynastys get started.

Thankyou!

And depth...next man in, no big deal.

^ This is what has me to the most excited...the depth built from elite competition!
Talented depth...no glaringly perceivable drop off in talent from the first to second string.

BK has the ship sailing in the right direction.

I believe and have believed since Russell, Jackson, and Farley emerged so strongly this season as easily seeable future elite talents, that we are so loaded in the secondary [three deep or more going into the future] that I became very relaxed as to whether we recruited any DBs at all especially after Luke verbaled.

What my dream is, is that these fast-flying hard-tackling super-maneuverable DBs remain enthusiastic and put their hearts into devastating special teams play. This sort of depth allows the potential for fast-arriving instant-tackling kick-coverage, like teams usually get only if they place all their regulars out there. Some of these guys are probably also tough and smart enough to make effective legal blocks on the return game --- THAT would be nice to see more often wouldn't it? [Davonte and GAIII are hearing that, I'm sure].

DB and LB depth should markedly sharpen up those areas, where we could use some play-making once in a while. If Redfield doesn't start right off, or at least "Shumate" right off [and really, we don't have a lot of "free spaces" even on Nickel and Dime], then maybe he can light it up somewhere here.

And soon to be good leaders..

This is my dream too. I shouldn't complain about such an incredible season but there is PLENTY of room for improvement on ST. I'd like to see Neal have a shot at returning a punt.

Yeah that is because nobody is going to USC anymore; ever seen a class slide like that?

EDIT: Yes, I am using hyperbole. Some. Not a lot.

Cal was on the verge of a monster class last year and fell like a piano from a 70th floor window

Let's hope their recruiting "slide" lasts through NSD. Their class is still pretty freaking good and can still get better. I hope it does fall apart but they still have a lot of quality to make up for the lack of quantity.

They still have some big names to visit. Carl Lawson will be there in January. Not sure exact date. It's definitely seems it won't be as good as we once thought. Don't think it will fall too much. Still probably end up with a top 5 class

Good chance Lawson stays with Auburn now that Auburn has added Rodney Garner to their defensive staff and as recruiting coordinator.

Their class might be better when they add Robinson and McQuay. Two huge recruits.

Robinson is sticking with UT.
McQuay the rumor has only been accepted into one school so far and that's FSU. His recruitment is up in the air but I think his dad doesn't want him to play for Lane.

I hope so. It seems like Robinson re-affirmed his commitment today, but I like to stay pessimistic when it comes to recruiting. It made Greg Bryant's commitment way more fun when I thought there was no way he was coming here.

When? That's a pretty strong assumption my man. Really don't understand the thought going around that these two guys are a done deal. Rack Em posted something in the USC recruiting thread the other day to a similar effect to which I said:

Honestly, this kind of thing sounds like us last year when we were like "if we keep Tee and Darby and add Yuri Wright or Brian Poole it'll be even better!"

FWIW there are rumors of Bigelow having issues passing admissions as an EE (from that fraud Eastern Christian this isn't surprising), Vanderdoes decommitted, Robinson is hardly a lock... so they could just as easily go 0/3 as 3/3.

When you really break it down, their class could still end up pretty awesome but more likely than not they're going to end up significantly worse than where they were a couple weeks ago. Guys like Cravens and Browne aren't going anywhere, but about 75% of their prospective class either has academic concerns or is wavering on their own accord.

Well a few days ago it looked more promising than now.

If Bigelow is having trouble wouldn't Rogers be having the same issues?

The short answer is no, not necessarily. To delve a little deeper, of course no two students are the same... but more importantly Bigelow = EE, Rodgers = regular enrollment.
