I'll also argue that it breeds healthy competition which brings the best out of everyone.
And depth...next man in, no big deal.

Eilar Hardy is going to be a name to watch next year. I have heard nothing but good things from his this year. Redfield has his work cut out for him. Kids arent just going to roll over bc he is a 5 star. Sure as a fanbase its nice to get, but he is not entitled to anything on this team. He will have to come in and work. THat is how dynastys get started.

UA Game on January 4th. He and Folston should be announcing favorable that day.
any idea when he's gonna make a decision?

I believe and have believed since Russell, Jackson, and Farley emerged so strongly this season as easily seeable future elite talents, that we are so loaded in the secondary [three deep or more going into the future] that I became very relaxed as to whether we recruited any DBs at all especially after Luke verbaled.
What my dream is, is that these fast-flying hard-tackling super-maneuverable DBs remain enthusiastic and put their hearts into devastating special teams play. This sort of depth allows the potential for fast-arriving instant-tackling kick-coverage, like teams usually get only if they place all their regulars out there. Some of these guys are probably also tough and smart enough to make effective legal blocks on the return game --- THAT would be nice to see more often wouldn't it? [Davonte and GAIII are hearing that, I'm sure].
DB and LB depth should markedly sharpen up those areas, where we could use some play-making once in a while. If Redfield doesn't start right off, or at least "Shumate" right off [and really, we don't have a lot of "free spaces" even on Nickel and Dime], then maybe he can light it up somewhere here.

Yeah that is because nobody is going to USC anymore; ever seen a class slide like that?
EDIT: Yes, I am using hyperbole. Some. Not a lot.
Cal was on the verge of a monster class last year and fell like a piano from a 70th floor window

Their class might be better when they add Robinson and McQuay. Two huge recruits.
Robinson is sticking with UT.
McQuay the rumor has only been accepted into one school so far and that's FSU. His recruitment is up in the air but I think his dad doesn't want him to play for Lane.

Honestly, this kind of thing sounds like us last year when we were like "if we keep Tee and Darby and add Yuri Wright or Brian Poole it'll be even better!"
FWIW there are rumors of Bigelow having issues passing admissions as an EE (from that fraud Eastern Christian this isn't surprising), Vanderdoes decommitted, Robinson is hardly a lock... so they could just as easily go 0/3 as 3/3.
When? That's a pretty strong assumption my man. Really don't understand the thought going around that these two guys are a done deal. Rack Em posted something in the USC recruiting thread the other day to a similar effect to which I said:
If Bigelow is having trouble wouldn't Rogers be having the same issues?
The short answer is no, not necessarily. To delve a little deeper, of course no two students are the same... but more importantly Bigelow = EE, Rodgers = regular enrollment.
Gotcha, forgot Bigelow was an EE
