Here it is:

During this period (11/25/12 thru 2/2/13), six in-person off-campus contacts per prospective student-athlete shall be permitted with not more than one permitted in any one calendar week (Sunday through Saturday) or partial calendar week.

Exceptions
December 16, 2012—Quiet Period.
December 17, 2012 through January 3, 2013 — Dead Period (click here to see JUCO and Mid-Year prospect exceptions lis).
January 6, 2013 — Quiet Period.
January 9 through January 12, 2013 — Dead Period (click here to see JUCO and Mid-Year prospect exceptions listed on NCAA PDF).

February 3, 2013—Quiet Period.
February 4 through February 7, 2013— Dead Period.
Feburary 6 National Letter of Intent Signing Day for the Class of 2013 (runs through April 1, 2013).
. . .
Intent.

Contact Period — It's permissible for authorized athletic department staff members to make in-person and off-campus recruiting contacts and evaluations. College coaches are allowed to visit recruits off–campus (at their high school or home). Coaches can make only one visit per week to individual recruits and are permitted to make one phone call per week to a recruit during this period.

Quiet Period — Recruits can visit with college coaches but only at those college campuses. Also, during the month of September, October or November coaches are permitted to make one in-person off-campus visit to a recruit (at their high schools or at an athletic event) (colleges are allowed a total of 42 days of evaluation time during this period).

Dead Period — Coaches are not permitted to make in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations on or off-campus or to permit official or unofficial visits by recruits or to make phone calls to recruits.

Evaluation Period — It's permissible for authorized athletics department staff to be involved in off-campus activities to assess academic qualifications and playing abilities. No in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts with a prospect are permitted during these evaluations: the college coaches are only allowed to attend athletic events and/or the prospect's school and talk to the high school coaches and school administrators but they are not allowed to speak to the recuit during one of thes visits except to say "hello." Colleges are allowed a total of approximatley 168 days each year to conduct evaluations for all of their prospective recruits.

Thanks for posting the rules and definitions...I appreciate it. Not to get off track, but does everyone abide by these rules and who acts as the police with this? No matter...it will take some of the fun out of it though.

EE's don't sign because they arrive at school before signing day. There is no reason to sign a letter of intent to attend a school when you already attend the school. But yeah, attending a class has the same effect as signing a LOI. Once you begin taking classes at a school, you can only play for another school by transferring and sitting out a year.

We wouldn't want someone coming here and doing that, so why do it to them. Let it be.

If there was a USC reporter that had a quote from a recruit that (in proper context) said where he was going, I'd absolutely want the USC fan to post it on this board.

Just posting the article, yes. Posting it with a "wink" like you said or any other form of trolling, no.

I have a theory but I don't wanna be that guy to jinx it.

Jinx it? ND is 12-0 and playing for the national title .........this is the time to be confident. I have been waiting 25 years to be this confident in ND

VERY impressive that this young man is mature enough to absorb the profound difference between the whole spiritual, intellectual, and team/family nature of Notre Dame vs the extended adolescence nature of USC. When our great friend, Coach Holtz, refers to USC as the University of Spoiled Children, he was not just making something up out of nothing. If an athlete just wanted to "play ball" for four years and come out of his college years the same 17-year-old know-nothing that he went in, that is a real possibility at USC, whereas it is almost impossible to do at ND. You have to work hard to succeed beyond the "culture" of USC athletics; you have to "work hard" at NOT succeeding in the culture of Notre Dame.

Any young man who can get that from his visit is the fellow we want on our team and in our university. Come ahead, Max; you're just the right guy for us, and we for you.

That piece provided insight, validation, and clarity into everything that we suspected was going on behind the scenes. That's great. The thing that inspired me was to hear what a mature, well-grounded man he is. It makes sense that he made a "connection" when he visited campus. He gets it. He's looking for what ND is all about. Still a ways to go be I'm thrilled.

Dare I say RKG?
