ok...so blackmon is the consensus 1 WR off the board...

is his run blocking better than michael floyd's?
yards after contact?

i saw a mock draft that had michael going 24 or so to houston. merry christmas matt schaub!

Michael looks completely disinterested right now.... Just my opinion. He's losing some major bucks based on how he played today.

I think Blackmon's better speed and fluidity give him the edge with scouts. I'd rather have Floyd though. (And fyi the Texans only draft defensive players in the first round...).

do you mean his two drops? didnt he have just shy of 10 for about 100 and 1? pretty close to that..plus, the only wideout that is consistently good in the run game.

i'm not doubting you opinion, im just not seeing what you are.

Blackmon benefits playing in that offense with Weeden at QB. I think as an NFL talent, MF is better at both. Blackmon probably has better top-end speed, though.

I noticed a couple of times where he didn't sell his route... took a step off of the line of scrimmage and stopped.

Floyd is the best blocking WR in the nation. I may be exaggerating because of the competition but he blocks better than most WR's in the pros. He pretty much takes him out of the play. Blackmon is a pretty good blocker too but man does he catch the ball and make a move and he is gone.

I'm really hoping the Viking trade down to late first and bring Michael home and reunite him with Rudolph

Our record and not being ranked (up until now hopefully) has not helped bring the attention to him that he deserves.

Same here. I am also a Vikings fan and their lack of a true #1 WR really hinders that offense. Ponder to Floyd sounds good to me.

The thing that boggles my mind is I am still seeing Alshon Jeffrey going before Floyd in a lot of these mock drafts, I am guessing based strictly on hype. It's not even close when you compare the two.

I think both are very similar and pretty even. Floyd is a better blocker. Blackmon definitely gets help from the wide open, spread the field offense he's in.

I'm just glad no one is talking about Alshon Jeffrey. I'm sick of seeing him in mock drafts in the top 10. Absolutely no way he will be that high of a pick. If he's lazy now, imagine what millions of dollars will do.

Blackmon is a more fluid athlete and is more productive (partially due to the system he plays in).

Floyd is a better physical specimen and is a far better blocker.

If I'm looking to draft a WR, I'd be wondering if Floyd can create separation against NFL level CBs. I don't think he really has top-end quickness. Haven't seen to much of Blackmon, so I can't comment on him, but late first round sounds just about right on Floyd.

i like the idea of floyd in minnesota with rudy, and his hometown. but theres a lot of knuckleheads that could get him back "off course" at home.

Also a problem with Alshon Jeffery.

I'd be willing to hang with Sullivan, Rudolph and Floyd to act as their wise and wizened Domer-Advisor.

For a reasonable fee, of course ...

Floyd creates seperation against anyone he plays against plus the NFL is more about 1 on 1 matchups and Floyd dominates those right now, though I personally see blackmon getting drafted higher right now

I'm sure this is the minority opinion, but I'd put Floyd behind:

Justin Blackmon (consensus #1 IMO)
Ryan Broyles (pre-injury, small but Desean Jackson-like)
Alshon Jeffrey

*My glasses aren't tinted enough to think otherwise.

Floyd has Rees throwing to him, and not the ability to get the ball down field. And Blackmon has Brandon Weedom (spelling??) who can get the ball anywhere on the field.

If Floyd had their QB, his numbers would be even more sick. Just my opinion. Not all on Tommy, but enough IMO

Floyd=good routes, high points the ball, good speed, 6'3", good hands, awesome blocker, tough.

Looking from the outside and not an Irish Homer would you draft him high in the first round? I would!
Go Irish!
