Ed O and Kiffin and USC were selling mega-success in Hollywood when the Pac-10 and ND were pretty mediocre. That is the easiest sale in the world. I think they are overrated as recruiters. Now that ND is on the rise, playing field has been leveled. If Redfield likes the USC kids and vibe more, he'll go to USC. If he likes the ND kids and vibe more, he'll come here. Either way, he's not going to spend this weekend moping around and Ed O is not going to work magic.

I am completely bias but do these kids not watch tv or search the Internet...Kiffin is the most insincere, asinine, and egotistical f***** that has ever had the privilege of coaching a major d1 school (FBS). Probably in the history of college football. I find it incredibly hard to believe that this guy can convince anyone that going to USC is a better choice than going to Notre Dame.

.... They've met him and I'm going on a limb and say you probably haven't... So what's more credible, a website from school x"s rival or the actual guy sitting in your living room?

Kiffin and credible do not belong in the same paragraph

We all generally despise Kiffin and wish him nothing but bad karma.........but I suspect nobody on this board has ever sat across the table from him and had a 1 on 1 conversation. What we see on tv and hear in the media is one thing, what he does in person without the lights and cameras might be completely different. He could be very personable, sincere and genuine, we just don't know.

I personally think we should be worried with these reports, if he was completely sold on ND why go back to USC, just commit. Something is preventing him........we will have to sweat this one out.

I don't see any reason to worry. We are #1 and Manti is racking up the awards. Lots to be happy about

Exactly. He was never a commit and we don't need a safety. I'm excited about him because he is a great player that seems to get ND. If he wants to come here he will, and I hope he does!

But Kiffin does not have some special power. He sells a product that some people really, really like. If his sit-down with Kiffin makes him want USC, by all means, he should go to USC.

As far as the 1-on-1... I am sure Kiffin is charismatic. My impression is that Urban Meyer is by far the most charismatic coach around. But that doesn't change the fact that you will be playing with some of the punks he recruits, the graduation rate, etc. Their are a lot of incredibly shallow, annoying girls who could charm you to death for the first month you know them. If a kid doesn't know that, he's in trouble.

USC, per Rivals, thinks they are getting right back in it with Max and think momentum could be swinging their way in his recruitment. Confidence is back after they were all but out of it after his ND OV.

He's on campus right now with a bunch of other recruits, including his good buddy Su'a Cravens, as well as Ty Isaac and other big-time athletes, so obviously this is a huge weekend in his recruitment...

Not just rivals saying it now L.A. USC IS back in it, but Notre Dame still has the edge.

This "back in it" talk cracks me up. I don't recall him ever saying they were out! All he has ever said was he wanted to re-evaluate and make the best decision for him and that we would lead if he had to pick.

He has always mentioned USC in his list of schools when asked.

Did people honestly think Kiffen was just going to give up? Oh he visited ND and Decommitted wah wah wah. Come on now, we are talking about same guy who will do an in home with one of our commits just to talk **** about us.

They were always going to get one last shot as they should. The recruitniks aren't dumb either, write a story about a presumed nd kid wavering and it means lots and lots of clicks.

If he truly is reconsidering SC, I hope he's not doing it because he likes Kiffin...

Because,
1) Kiffin is just slime.
2) Kiffin is on the way out, real soon.

It's probably not, right? If you're Redfield's age and a football player growing up in southern California, USC has pretty much been the top dog your entire life. It's like U of Texas and Texas kids. If they want you, you're at least interested.

Remember Alex Anzalone?

Not only that but up until recently many analysts thought Oregon were leading for Redfield. I'm going to wait until after this weekend to see what he says himself before starting to worry about losing out on him.

I would think that if he doesn't commit during his visit and leaves still uncommitted, it can be seen as a good sign.

That is my feeling as well. Just dont want to hear this weekend that he commits to USC. Then I will feel much more assured he will be Irish in the near future.

Calm down fellas. He wants to make sure this time. We would all love to have him at ND and all rational indicators are that is where he is leaning. But it is not a disaster if he doesn't. He knows what ND has to offer and he has already witnessed Kiffins song and dance, there is nothing here to freak out over, it is what happens during recruting...kids evaluate their options.

Hopefully they're all in Red's ear the same way the FSU kids were in Darby's last year.
