I don't think we have to worry about Manti leaving the NFL for Hollywood.

Someone please photoshop in all of Teo's Hardware right in front of him. Then show him reaching over the Butkus Award for the salt or telling Clowney to pass the Ketchup because it's on the other side of his Maxwell Trophy. Yeah, that's who the best player is, any questions?

By the way, is that Amare Stodemaire in the front?

I know this looks like a complete different picture, but I promise you, you can see Clowney and Jarvis in the background if you squint a bit.

I tried squinting but I just can't see past all the hardware.

I've been wanting to see all these side by side. Thanks!

The only valid question is if you could bring one young man onto your campus to optimize your defensive performance, your athletic program's class, and your university's reputation, who would you choose??

THAT answer is so obvious that no thread needed to be made.

I wondered where that would show up. I had to laugh! Nothing like your entire offensive line hanging you out to dry! And against the second best defensive player in the country, too!

EDIT: I just sent that gif to a couple of big M fans! TXH!

Umm. Manti is my favorite ND player of all time. But he will not get a hit like that. That hit was inhuman.

However, a pick 6 could be in order...

Gifs don't really do it justice. Here's the video:

This was posted to /r/cfb, and some choice comments followed:

He turns 20 in 6 weeks.
Yes that's right, Clowney is a teenager.

His name was Vincent Smith

It is important to note that after ruining Smith's life, he also picked up the ball with his extra-large man hand.

I had Bayless and Smith on in the background (tax time...need some noise). They think the hit was an 8. I just wander when they started giving those two crack before their show...an 8? They justified it because he hadn't had a great game to that point, and he came clean....WHATEVER!

Yes...he came clean...but he did make a move down first, and then stepped through, found the ball carrier, and delivered a shot that would have dropped a Buffalo.

Man I so don't care about the rest of the game, what he did or didn't do etc. On that play, he delivered a bomb.

that hit was a 10 in my book. Smith and Bayless need to STFU!

I have two final thoughts about this; the way the helmet pops of, it was a helmet to helmet hit; and I am getting kind of fed up with Jon Gruden, he was getting all masturabatory over JC and all and called him a Heisman-winner. I kind of took that as a Manti dig.

But with any reference to Te'o and his awards, including being the most deserving defensive candidate ever; did anyone see Clowney have the kind of positive effect on the ***** defense that Manti has on the Irish? Did anyone see any particular leadership from the teen in general?

...personally I'd take Manti 100% of the time if I had a choice.

...clearly I missed the discourse before or something...but my compliment of that hit should not be seen as a slight to Manti.

I like Gruden...but I think he is a bit much all game long...I expect Clowney to be a serious contender from day 1 for the Heisman...he can thank Manti and BK for the hardware if he wins...Manti's performance demanded defensive player consideration, and Kelly's comments put the Heisman folks on notice...I still doubt he does enough to win it because he's gotta do things like that near every week to overcome one "Johnny Football does Bama".

anyway...in terms of that hit...that one was something. ...I've only had a couple in my life where it all lined up, and it was like when you hit a baseball on the sweet spot of the bat...you feel near nothing and the ball just explodes off the bat...when a football hit lines up like that...same thing...and there is not better feeling...

Great play in clutch time by Clowney. Manti has been doing that all year, being clutch that is

Who cares!? It was a great hit. Just say that. Clowney is a sick defensive end and I'd want him on my team.

I know that we all love Manti here, but in terms of pure skill and ability, no one in college football comes close to Clowney at this point. He's got game changing ability, but doesn't have the same level of intangibles that Manti has.

As far as making that hit under ideal circumstances: I have no problem whatsoever imagining Manti making a hit at least that hard. Te'o is one of the "heaviest" force-projectors I've ever seen in college. Opponents slam down rapidly when he "merges" with their paths. Diaco said that he had the "heaviest hands" he'd ever seen. It is as if he's made of slightly denser protein than normal humans --- a factor I've seen in several Samoan-ethnicity players --- they just seem to hurt more.

To make that hit, the runner has to be in a hesitant fairly upright stance and the attacker at acceleration and able [like a knockout punch in boxing] to generate force through and beyond the contact point. Te'o doesn't decelerate when he hits someone --- he explodes through. Give him the same opportunity and most of the runner's equipment will be scattered around the field too, hopefully with no loose body parts.

This has nothing to do with who's the best player. In fact since they don't even play the same position, the issue is especially devoid of content. Clowney seems to be the best DE. Te'o seems to be the best MLB. ... Wait.... we already knew that.

Oh the interminable waiting for the game....................

This. But give him another year, and Clowney will be a monster. Kid is amazing.
dude this kid is already a monster, I mean look what he did to Nebraska in the bowl game last year and Georgia this year, however with that being said I think he could use another year., but if he's projected to go in the 1st round then he should bail.....why stay around.
