Shocking.....

Obviously pushed out. Not even a question. We said this was going to happen months ago.

IDK, I think this kid probably just realized that Kiffin's comment during the visit

"relax Eldridge, your status as one of our recruits is just as solid to me as my dad's status as our DC; my word is stronger than OAK"

just isn't as reassuring anymore

what about the ND fans saying basically the same thing in this thread?

Just re-read the whole thread and don't see where any one says he is overrated and that he should have his scholarship pulled. You're the only one saying that.

I would love to have him, even after the injury. It is no surprise to us that Kiffin pulled his scholarship. That is very different from saying I would want or expect Coach Kelly to do it.

Tore his ACL. 85% chance Kiffin pulls his scholly like he did with York last year.

I mean we all saw this coming 5 months ago. I don't get how kids and their parents can be so blind sometimes.

If you're a skill position player and you commit to USC and then you suffer a ligament injury during the season YOU WILL LOSE YOUR SCHOLARSHIP LATE IN THE CYCLE.

It sucks, but this kid has no one to blame but himself for signing up to play for the snake of all snakes.

no one has said that, everyone was saying that his schollie would get pulled BECAUSE he was injured. Lame Kittin and the SEC love to throw away kids like trash, no surprise there.

Can we all relax. He is talking about Lane. Lax said the same thing about the situation and the kid. Another example of turning an ordinary statement into something it's not.

Let the neg reps come again.

So how about this kid. Any idea where he will land?

I haven't be following his recruitment at all but if Kiffin was trying to dump him I'm surprised Bama is interested.

EDIT: Should have said, Kiffin did dump him.

This is what really went down:

1. Massington effed up, royally. He told the USC coaches he wouldn't go to Tennessee's camp and work out for them, and then he did anyways. Then he tore his knee up, and the coaches found out through the media, which is another strike against him. Apparently the USC coaches were so pissed they almost dropped him then, but they didn't.

2. It was then a contingency that Massington be an EE if he wanted to be at USC. Massington was all about it, and had to take night classes in order to be an EE. I'm sure he didn't realize how draining and how sucky night classes are when he started, because the last 2 months his attendance was spotty and he stopped putting in the required work. It became apparent this week that he wasn't going to be able to EE. With USC's scholly limitations being what they are, the writing was on the wall.

So yes, he decommitted, and yes, USC forced him out. But in this rare case, I kinda don't blame SC. The kid got hurt ON ANOTHER SCHOOL'S CAMPUS, and only then did he profess his never-ending love for USC. Then he promised to get things done in the classroom, and he didn't. If he were a ND recruit, i don't think they'd drop him if he couldn't EE, but I wouldn't blame them if they did. The kid made some really stupid choices, and there are consequences to those stupid choices.

Not blaming Kiffin for this one, personally, as cold as that sounds...

Oh man, I forgot about the Tennessee angle. And yeah, with the sanctions I guess USC can't have guys saying they will EE and then screwing it up in the classroom. Good points, Hollywood. Not that Kiffin's not a snake ... just that Massington bears some responsibility here.

All well and good, but I thought that Kiffin had a policy about not wanting injury information disclosed via the media ;) (seems like there are cases where he sees value in such information being available - oh the irony)

Per BGI, we reached out to gauge interest and he is not really interested. Focused on other schools.

Just scored an 80 yard TD due to shitty tackling by ASU. Love to see a guy come back from an injury and have some success.
