According to the Mission Viejo, Calif., five-star safety, the Oregon coaching staff told him they didn't have a scholarship for him and that they believed he was going to sign with Notre Dame so they didn't want him to take an official visit.

"They told me they are out of scholarships and think I'm pretty set on Notre Dame so they aren't allowing me to take a trip there," Redfield said in a text message.

This is the last big hurdle. Doesn't seem like a kid that makes decision based solely on emotions so hopefully he'll talk to his parents and mull it over for a few days after the visit. Being a Trojan commit at one point, and the fact that a lot of his friends are there this weekend probably bodes against us.

Should be interesting.

Like I said, this is the only thing that worried me. You never count out Kiffin & Ed O... and now that their class is starting to crack around the edges and they also don't have players waiting in the wings like they thought they did... it's going to be MUCH harder to land Redfield.

Don't buy it all you want...but it's the truth. Never said he wouldn't be Irish...in fact they (USC) aren't even sure, but they are putting on the full-court press for him, and the fact that he's taken their in-home visits, he's on campus for an OV and he's listening to their pitch means that he's still interested, if even a little.

As for quotes and stuff, you can't get quotes from a player or do any type of press when he is on campus for an OV, and he only just go there today so his parents (who don't talk much anyway) wouldn't be the ones to give quotes, so I have no idea why you are talking about quotes. But just like ND recruitniks have sources and are good at what they do, so are USC's guys, and they generally do a good job with their info. One mod even said he's not sure if it will work, but USC is definitely putting in the work to try and get Redfield, with his good buddy Cravens leading the way.

BK doesn't have an in-home with him left (only get one), but the assistants can be there more if they want, as least in the past they could. Unless they changed the rule, our asst coaches can still go visit him.

And for the record, I still firmly belive that he'll be Irish in the end, but this weekend makes it much more interesting/nerve-racking...
