#NotreDame Football live chat starts in 9.4 minutes at Home - southbendtribune.com

I will be unable to chat/watch. In case anyone wants to questions in, it's usually a pretty good time.

I've done his chat about 15 times and I've always gotten at least one question in. He's good at responding.

Is Eric Hanson the dude that jumps out from behind the curtains and offers pedophiles cookies?

Going through the chat now.

FWIW, on Diaco:

"Eric Hansen: I think it Wisconsin is really interested, Diaco would listen, but I still think he'd like to end up at Iowa. Just a hunch."

On BK ever considering the NFL:

"Eric Hansen: I don't think that's on his wish list at all. "

On heisman:

"Eric Hansen: I think Johnny Manziel will win (I refuse to call him or anyone else Johnny Football), but part of me thinks these straw polls have missed a lot of the old school voters, who voted for Manti. I expect it to be closer than predicted. "

Question: "What's your honest gut feeling on this? Will Alabama's running game wear down our front 7 and eventually do what it has done to everyone else in the 2nd half? "

Answer: "No." (tough!)

On Mattingly/James:

"Eric Hansen: From what I'm hearing, Mattingly is less than 50-50, James a little more than that. "

EDIT: Here's the link. Lots of worthwhile stuff, imo, so I'm not going to post every comment.

On QB depth last year and speculation about Keil:

"Eric Hansen: I say this every week. EVERY college football roster has at least four quarterbacks, some many more. That doesn't mean someone won't transfer. BUT if you do, you are giving up a Notre Dame degree and you are rolling the dice you are going to rise to the top of the new depth chart after sitting out a year. Sometimes it works out (Zak Kustok). Sometimes it does not (Demetrius Jones). All you can do as a coach is be fair to everyone. "

Will Gunner transfer?

"Eric Hansen: Only if he's afraid of competition. I don't think he is. "

Comment From Z from AustinZ from Austin: ]
Eric, this year's team is getting lots of individual national recognition. Diaco won Ast. Coach of the year, Eifert the Mackey, Cave is up for the Rimington, Te'o is picking up awards left and right, and Tuitt & Nix have been on many All-American teams that I've seen. Who is your unsung hero of the year? (As in a player or coach who gets little attention, but whom we wouldn't be 12-0 without)

Wednesday December 5, 2012 12:49 Z from Austin
12:52 Eric Hansen: The list is long.
Kapron Lewis-Moore, Bennett Jackson, Matthias Farley, Danny Spond, Prince Shembo, Theo Riddick, Bobby Elliott. That's just a few. Will be writing about this in the coming days

I think you gotta throw Russell in there too. Stepping up as a true freshman DB starter. Touchdown saving tackle against Pitt. May not be 12-0 without that guy.

My personal choice for unsung hero is Zeke Motta. This guy made the back end so much better and was always around the ball. Makr my words he will be playing on Sundays for years to come.

I saw that the idea of oversigining was brought up THREE times and he NEVER addressed it as being a problem, even when presented with the number from 2002-10, where at least 3 SEC teams had over 230 recruits while ND had 180 or so.

Someone needs to impress on the media how BADLY Alabama, LSU, UGA and the lot oversigin. It is more disgraceful than I thought.

"Eric Hansen:
If my memory and math is correct, I've been asked a Gunner Kiel transfer question every chat this year. I'm not picking on your Frank, but I don't see the logic. I understand logic doesn't always rule these decisions, but I think he would be out of his mind. If he were to transfer, Kiel would be a junior when he was again eligible to play in an FBS game. And there's I don't know of any other college where you don't have to earn your starting status. Having said that, my expectation is Kiel will go into spring looking to push his way up the depth chart. If he works hard enough, given his skill set, perhaps he reaches No. 2??
