Brian Kelly for COY

We got a Manti for Heisman thread, but what about BK for Coach of the Year.

Do you think BK gets COY? Who's the biggest threat?

Bill King has been pimping BK hard for Coach of the Year the last couple of days. He considers it a "no-brainer". For him all the other candidates would be competing for 2nd behind BK.

Bill King had Mitch Light from Athlon Sports on this morning. They discussed the hypothetical of "If you could have any college coach in America to coach your team who would you pick?" They both picked Saban immediately, but then they said if you excluded Saban from the discussion, who would you pick. They both agreed they would choose BK.

Clearly Penn State's O'Brien should get the award for leading the Nittany Lions to an 8-4 record against a schedule of nobodies aside from Ohio State, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.

Some of the other coaches that I've heard being considered has been O'Brien, Muschamp, Urban Meyer. I'm sure there are probably others.

I would think this is a given. No one expected him to take his team to the NC game and go 12-0. We beat all the teams the experts said we couldn't beat with a red shirt starting qb. Yes i know that some of it Rees had a part in helping us win.

Clearly Penn State's O'Brien should get the award for leading the Nittany Lions to an 8-4 record against a schedule of nobodies aside from Ohio State, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.

He should get some votes yes i do agree with that. He had alot of talent bail out on him and he stillmanaged to keep the team on the right track.

That said Kelly still had a more impressive coaching year IMO.

last i checked they were all pretty happy--that was right after the oklahoma game. Maybe BK hasnt called enough run plays since then or something. who knows.

I don't think O'brien has a prayer...did a fine job, but too soon for ANY accolades is my sense of it. As well, BK's results are just better.

This should be Brian Kelly hands down. I'm willing to entertain arguments against Te'o winning the Heisman but there no compelling arguments to made against a coach that took an unranked, disrespected team to an undefeated season and the BCS NCG against the "toughest schedule in the land."

Can't be for sure if this is the official COY. It says fans, college football hall of fame committee and national media.

I posted this in another thread bu Vegas pegged Penn State for 7 wins. They got 8. That's not even close to COY worthy.

Vegas pegged ND for 8 wins... we got 12 and are the first team ever to go from unranked to BCS title game. We did it losing 3 key players in an already depleted secondary and replacing them with players that included a RS frosh converted soccer player to converted WR to safety in place of a 5th NFL talent leader, and a true frosh converted RB to CB.

This isn't even a contest. If O'Brien wins I will break sh*t.

Before Baylor I thought Synder was going to get it again... now it looks like BK is a pretty good bet...

Meyer doesn't deserve it. No one exceeded expectations like BK. Snyder you can make a case for.

O'Brien is getting over-hyped like crazy. He barely, if at all, exceeded expectations. People are just shocked the team that got owned by Ohio turned out to have a winning season.

I live in PSU country and I told them they'd make 8 wins this year AFTER the exodus.
Look at the talent they held onto and the schedule. 7 or 8 should have been expected by anyone with an unbiased viewpoint.

They're happy with BK after he implemented their suggestions this year and it resulted in winning football. Sadly, this statement doesn't require the italics to denote sarcasm.
