How good is Golson going to be in 2/3 years? Wow. I don't expect Keil to stay.

Unless Golson significantly bulks up, GK will see time in relief more than once over the next couple of years. Question is will that be good enough for him.

Kiffin is to the Irish/PAC 12 as Wayne Fontes was to the Bears/NFC Central (errr North?).

Did anyone see what Michigan has been doing with Denard Robinson since Devin Gardner has been the QB. Put people where they can make the most difference.

We did it with Holiday when Quinn was a freshman/sophmore (can't remember).

I don't think Golson will leave early because he is not an NFL quarterback. I think he is the starting quarterback the next three years without any debate

Slow down there with the no debate thing. He is far from a lock to start next season. Expectations rise and its possible he has reached his peak. Maybe not. Nobody knows but there will be plenty debate. BK loves competition and Kiel will go one on one with Golson in the spring.

Exactly. No one can tell the future and perhaps Golson regresses coming into next year. Perhaps he gets a big head and doesn't do what he needs to do to secure the starting job next year. Or maybe no matter what Golson does Kiel is just so good that he starts. I'm a believer in Golson though and I think he will be our starter next year because I see him getting better but you never know.

Golson is 11-0 as a RS freshman. Golson has even won us games whereas Tommy was just suppose to not lose us games. He starts next season, the season after that, and the season after that.

Wrong.

12-0.

I realize TT "started" the Miami game.

But EG is 12-0.

Guys lets finish these season before we worry about who the starter is for 2013. Golson is growing each week and has a month to prepare for the NC GAME. Thats the most important thing right now other then recruiting. Nothing else matters right now.

You can't say there are not areas for improvement with Golson, I don't think it is a mortal lock that he is the starter for the next 3 seasons.

Sh*t, Zaire could come in and blow everyone out of the water. You just don't know.

Well I'll bet all of my v-bucks against 1,000,000 to the first bidder that Golson starts next year, barring injury.

Curtis McNeal ladies and gentlemen..

What would happen if Oregon played Notre Dame: “They would kill Notre Dame...”

That's their RB, #22, correct? That actually makes me sad. He's played both teams.
I hope he enjoys the Toilet Bowl or wherever they're going. He's just bitter. Other players from the Trojans said we were better this kid is just bitter.

Why would this make you sad? McNeal's opinion of whether our defense could slow down their offense (it could) means f*ck all. As a RB, he's never played against Oregon's offense.

That is the sound of sour grapes dripping. After being squeezed. See a couple posts back.

It is interesting that two (three or four around the country, but who's counting) defenses that have had fast PAC12 offenses numbers are very similar powerful up front; with exceptional speed on the edges and in back. Hmmm. Someone figured out how to stop a flaming duck!

This all leads to something I think I discovered in taking a closer look. Something that explains to a degree ND's success this year and SC's fall. It ain't Lane. It ain't play callings or defensive coordinators, per se. It is about number of plays. I was putting some pseudo-stats together showing a point I wanted to make; namely that SC had the ball inside the five for about 9 plays in the fourth quarter. That was roughly 20% of their possessions for the game. I wanted to show that in that 20% they came away with 3 points. Something like they had no more production from being at ND's six inch line that being at their own twenty, or there about. But that wasn't it. They had 51 plays. 51!

ND had 69, which wasn't exactly top tier for offenses around the country. But it is all about the gradient. If you watch the SC season, so far looking at about four or five SC games, it seems to bear this out, they fell off the pace in the percent of plays run in a given game. So you see in their terrible November stretch they became more and more dependent on their big play/long range strike-ability, and instead of becoming more efficient, lost clock control and put the pressure on an ailing defense. Hmmm.

Maybe someone could tell me, but I think this is the opposite of what ND has been doing right. Controlling large segments of the game with an offense that isn't even that productive (can you say raining field goals?) allows a defense that can knock your head off, over inches to further dominate.

McNeal is a loser in every sense of the word. Maybe he should learn how to beat Arizona before he even thinks he's qualified to talk how two top 5 teams would play against each other.

Didn't Marquis Lee say that we deserve to be number 1 and that we are better than Oregon?
