Next Sunday at 8:30 PM EST/ 5:30 PST ESPN airs the BCS Bowl Selection Show followed by a 2 HR. Bowl Selection Special.

I'm glad Sunday Night Football is an Eagles vs Cowboys Suckfest.

I cant wait for the NC odds to come out. I hope ND is +14. Im taking ND straight up on the money line and winning a lot of money. I did the same for Oklahoma, but my girlfriend talked me out of it and I called off my bet

Notre Dame finished the season beating nine bowl-eligible teams. By comparison, Alabama: five. Georgia: four.

Another way of looking at ND's schedule and accomplishments this season is (assuming they beat the winner of the SEC championship game, and that a few other things happen next weekend) they may end up having beaten the winners of the following conferences:

-SEC (assuming NC game win)
-Big12 (assuming KSU loses to Texas; go Longhorns)
-Pac12 (assuming Stanford beats UCLA next Friday night - based on yesterday and the fact it is a home game, good chance of it)

What could have been
-Imagine if Miami had self-penalized for post-game participation this year; Miami would have played FSU for the ACC title. What if the ACC were added to the above??
-Also, too bad scUM hadn't beaten Nebraska; I would hate to do it, but would have cheered for scUM in the Big Ten championship against a soft Wiscy.
-Pitt sh1t the bed in conference this year, but they convincingly beat the potential Big East champion yesterday. Too bad they had a slow start

Too many "would've"/"could'ves", but it would have been EPIC if ND finished the season 13-0, having beaten ALL of the BCS conference champions.

And after that we wait and wait and wait and talk about 5th years and the heisman and coaching moves and wait. Then win the national championship.

I honestly, after thinking about it for awhile, do not see any reason why we can't beat Alabama. What, their defense? Our offensive line is a strength for this team and we have a reliable stable of running backs to set the tempo and neutralize their linebackers. Not to mention we have 40+ days to gameplan and find a way to focus on using Eifert to our advantage.

And really, I'll take our defense over their offense. McCarron is a good QB, but ND has played several teams this season with good offenses. I thought we did a great job holding back Lee and Woods last night, arguably the best duo in the country.

So, I ask, what is it that makes the rest of the country think that ND will be immediately thrashed by Bama? Is it the ridiculous SEC hype? Whatever it is, it's utter nonsense and perfect bulletin board material for a team that is UNDOUBTEDLY the number 1 damn team in the country.

IF we play Alabama. Their offense plays right into our defensive strengths.

I wouldn't say that. Alabama is the epitome of a balanced pro-offense. Teams like Michigan State or Stanford played to Notre Dame's strengths.

Alabama has the power running game of Stanford, the speedy receivers of maybe Miami, and a quarterback who very rarely makes mistakes.

The Irish cannot solely rely on the defense this time, they're going to need to score 28+ points to win.

The good news is that Alabama is probably overrated, and that Golson has a huge six weeks to prep. His learning curve was evident throughout the season, in a good way, and we should see some big plays in January.

Alabama losing their 2nd best receiver doesn't them any

You are going to take someone out for 5-6 weeks necessary for recovery, (granted he may make the NC 45 days in theory) and put him in the toughest game of the year with no rehab? Won't that be a bigger advantage for us than having him penciled out the whole way, from the beginning?

It's pretty cool to hear the Irish come up in almost every conversation on TV, even if its not football related.

We don't know that he would be lost for the NCG, should they make it past Georgia.

Breaking your leg sucks, trust me. It will take 4-6 weeks just for the bone to heal. After that, he will have to build his leg back uo and he will be probably be favoring that leg a bit. I know I did
